Following his four-point night, Bedard insisted that his success came from the players around him.

“I’m playing with great players that are making the game easy on me,” Bedard said during teh postgame interview.“Sometimes the points come, sometimes they don’t, but for me it’s about the process, getting chances, making plays. Everyone contributes in those moments.”

Bedard finished with one goal and three assists powering an all-around team effort that saw goaltender Spencer Knight record a 33-save shutout, while Tyler Bertuzzi struck twice and Andre Burakovsky added a goal and an assist.

Bedard’s goal came off a highlight-reel sequence in the third period. After picking off a pass from Calgary’s Morgan Frost near the blue line, he broke in alone and beat Flames goalie Dustin Wolf with a composed move.

“I tried to read what he was going to do and get my stick on the puck,” Bedard explained. “Then it’s just kind of one-on-one with the goalie. I tried to make him bite one way, and fortunately it worked out.”

The performance extended Bedard’s point streak to seven games (6 goals, 9 assists) and pushed him into a tie for the NHL scoring lead with San Jose rookie Macklin Celebrini.

Connor Bedard reflects on his chemistry with Tyler Bertuzzi

Chicago’s win marked a complete team effort from start to finish, one Bedard said reflected the group’s mettle. Tyler Bertuzzi and Connor Bedard combined on two of Chicago’s goals with Bedard finding Bertuzzi for a pair of textbook deflections on the night.

Speaking of his chemistry with Bertuzzi, Bedard was all praises for his teammate.

“Yeah, it’s a good time,” Bedard said with a grin. “He’s so good at that, it looks easy, but it’s really not. Not many guys can do it as well as him. It’s fun for me to always have that as an option.”

The only downside to an otherwise dominant night came early when forward Frank Nazar left the game with an apparent injury.

“He’s been so good every game this year. We’re all thinking about him and hope he’s all right. He’s a champ, and if he can go, he’ll go.”

For the Blackhawks, the shutout snapped a three-game skid and provided a much-needed boost before the team continues its Western road swing in Detroit.
