The Canucks started the game strong, taking an early 2-0 lead, but the Panthers tied it before the second period. The Panthers continued their momentum and erupted in the second period, scoring three unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead.

Despite the loss, Elias Pettersson highlighted the positives in the team’s offensive output while acknowledging defensive lapses that proved costly.

"Yeah, obviously, really good to score five goals against Florida. But we let up seven and eight with the open net. We've got to be better defensively," Pettersson said post-game.

He added:

"They're a good team. They got a lot of skilled players. But then again, we go up 2-0, and then we should be able to get that to the house for the first period. I don't know what the right answer is, but we just got to be better defensively."
