The Montreal Canadiens took another hit Sunday when the team announced that Kirby Dach will miss 4 to 6 weeks with a fractured foot. Dach had been producing well in recent weeks, making the news even harder for the team. He will now begin a recovery period that keeps him out until late December or early January. The Canadiens confirmed it on their official X account, writing,"Forward Kirby Dach (fractured foot) will be out for 4 to 6 weeks."Dach had five goals and two assists in 15 games this season. He was also in the middle of a strong November with four goals. Analyst Marco D'Amico said on Saturday that Dach had been consistently noticeable and looked like he had found his game."Kirby Dach has been consistently noticeable over the last little while. Yes, the Canadiens are struggling to find their mojo collectively, but Dach seems to have found his legs." D'Amico said. The 24-year-old center is an important piece for Montreal when healthy. He is in his seventh NHL season and was drafted third overall by Chicago in 2019. His best year came in 2022-23 with Montreal, when he recorded 38 points. He remains a key part of the Canadiens’ future once healthy. His absence also opens a chance for Joshua Roy, who was called up on Sunday. The Canadiens hold a 10-6-2 record and sit second in the Atlantic Division. Dach’s injury adds to a growing list of unavailable players. Kaiden Guhle is out with a lower-body injury and may return in early January. Alex Newhook has an ankle injury and is expected back in mid-March. Patrik Laine remains out with an abdominal issue until late February. These injuries affect both lineup depth and scoring options.
