While Saturday night’s debacle was on the entire Oilers squad, one particular play was emblematic of the situation befalling the Oilers. With the Oilers down 5-1 late in the second period, the club tried to get something going on the power play. However, Bouchard bobbled the puck at the Colorado blueliner, allowing Parker Kelly to get a shorthanded goal. Here’s a look:Bouchard ended the night a minus-3 in just under 28 minutes of play. He got five shots on goal, without blocking a shot.#2 Adam HenriqueAdam Henrique is one of the most defensively responsible forwards for the Edmonton Oilers. However, his play on Saturday night left much to be desired. He ended the game a minus-4. But if there was one goal that highlighted his lack of effort, it was this one, as shown on the Avalanche’s official X account:Henrique blocked the initial pass from getting across. Instead of following up on the play, he skated around, allowing the Avalanche to move the puck. The play eventually came to Parker Kelly, who made it 5-0.Henrique hit the ice for 14:14 across 22 shifts, getting just one shot on goal.#1 Calvin PickardOn any other night, it would have been starter Stuart Skinner getting the least impressive player tag. Skinner was chased after giving up four goals on 13 shots. But Pickard, unfortunately, didn’t fare any better. He came in relief in the second period and proceeded to give up five goals on 21 shots. The Avalanche’s final goal was a good example of just how much Pickard wanted to get the game over with as soon as possible. Check it out here:Pickard haphazardly shot the puck around the boards, with the Oilers blueliner lazily trying to pick it up. The Avalanche stole the puck, with Jack Drury getting his second of the night. The Oilers will have little time to regroup as they take on the Columbus Blue Jackets on Monday night at home.
