The Edmonton Oilers hit a new low this season, dropping an 8-3 walloping at the hands of the Dallas Stars in Tuesday night’s lone game on the NHL schedule.

The game was 4-0 after 20 minutes at Rogers Place, silencing the home crowd. Connor Clattenburg got his first NHL goal to get the Oilers on the board. But that would be the only highlight of the night. The game was 6-1 after 40 minutes, when Evan Bouchard and Jack Roslovic scored for the Edmonton Oilers in the third.

Meanwhile, Nathan Bastian scored twice for the Dallas Stars, with captain Jamie Benn getting his first of the season. The goal was Benn’s 400th career tally. Benn had missed the first month and a half of the season after recovering from a collapsed lung. Roope Hintz (PPG), Sam Steel, Jason Robertson (PPG), Wyatt Johnston (PPG), and Justin Hryckowian scored for the Stars.

Dallas went 3-for-4 with the man advantage, while surrendering just one power play opportunity on the night.

So, let’s take a look at the three least impressive Edmonton Oilers players from their Tuesday night shellacking at the hands of the Dallas Stars.

#3 Adam Henrique

Adam Henrique continues to struggle offensively for the Edmonton Oilers. He failed to produce significant offensive opportunities on Tuesday night despite getting three shots on goal in nearly 14 minutes of ice time.

The veteran forward has not scored a goal since October 23. That’s a string of 17 games he’s gone goalless. In that span, four assists. On Tuesday night, he also racked up four costly penalty minutes.

#2 Andrew Mangiapane

Andrew Mangiapane continues to be a letdown this season for the Edmonton Oilers. He played under nine minutes on the night, registering just one shot on goal. To his credit, that lone shot was a rush chance that could have put the team on the board much earlier in the first period. But he missed it, and that was it on the night for Mangiapane.

He ended the night a minus-2 on just 15 shifts. Like other Oilers’ forwards, he rode the bench down the stretch as the game had gotten out of hand by the end of the second period.

#1 Stuart Skinner

It may seem like a recurring theme to blame the Edmonton Oilers’ goalies for every loss. But when starting goaltender Stuart Skinner gives up four goals on eight shots, it’s tough to overlook the goalie’s responsibility.

Skinner gave up four goals, taking into account one goal by Nathan Bastian that was waved off on a high stick in the first. Skinner got the hook after the first period, with Calvin Pickard taking over. Pickard didn’t fare much better, surrendering four goals on 22 shots.

The season-worst performance for the Oilers is now in the books. The club will look towards its next game on Saturday night against the Seattle Kraken at the Climate Pledge Arena.
