The Detroit Red Wings’ comeback fell short as they dropped a 3-2 loss in the shootout against the Boston Bruins on Saturday night at the TD Garden. The Wings were down 2-1 late in the third when Michael Rasmussen scored to tie the game with the net empty. While overtime solved nothing, the game had to be decided in the shootout. Casey Mittelstadt scored to give the Bruins the two points. Morgan Geekie continued his tremendous season, scoring twice for Boston in regulation. In addition to Rasmussen, Lucas Raymond scored for the Detroit Red Wings. So, let’s take a closer look at the three least impressive Detroit Red Wings players from their shootout loss to the Boston Bruins on Saturday night.3 least impressive Detroit Red Wings players from SO loss to Boston Bruins#3 Nate DanielsonThe Detroit Red Wings have given Nate Danielson a chance to prove he’s ready for the NHL. However, the 21-year-old hasn’t been overly convincing. He scored one goal and four points in 11 games. He’s shown flashes of the player he could become down the line. But against the Bruins, Danielson did not have his best game thus far. He played 12:35 across 16 shifts, getting one shot on goal. He’s struggled with the defensive side of the puck. He’s still very young and will need more time to grow and develop into a bona fide NHL center.#2 Travis HamonicThe Detroit Red Wings veteran defenseman continues to underperform for the club. He played for just 12:46 on the night across 18 shifts. But in a tight game such as this one, Hamonic’s second-period faux pas led to a costly goal. Here’s a look, as shown on the Bruins’ official X account:The replay showed Morgan Geekie all alone in front of Cam Talbot. Geekie redirected the puck past the Red Wings’ goalie as no one impeded him. Hamonic, meanwhile, eventually got back into the play, albeit too late. By the time he pushed Geekie out of the way, the Bruins were celebrating the game’s opening goal.#1 Marco KasperMarco Kasper’s sophomore slump continues. His performance this season has been a major disappointment, as the Red Wings hoped he’d take the next step following a great rookie season.Kasper did not register a point in 12:50 of ice time. While he got three shots on goal, he could not find the back of the net. He’s now gone scoreless in his last 15 games. The 21-year-old has three points in 26 games this season. The Red Wings will get a chance at a rematch against the Bruins, as the two clubs will face off on Tuesday night at the Little Caesars Arena.
