Hilary Duff reminisced about her acting days and specifically recalled the time she did A Cinderella Story. The 2004 retelling of the classic fairytale sees Duff star as Samantha "Sam" Montgomery, who is routinely being exploited by her wicked stepmother, Fiona. American Pie star Jennifer Coolidge played the stepmother in the movie.She told Variety in a video titled "Does Hilary Duff Know Her Lyrics?" on YouTube on November 25 that her teenage self was afraid of "mean" Jennifer Coolidge while shooting the movie. She said that she remembered Cooldge as "slightly intimidating."
