Michael Jackson is now the first artist to chart in the Top 10 hits for six different decades. The King of Pop's latest milestone came after his hit song, Thriller, re-entered the chart over 15 years after he passed away.
It recently rose from No.32 to No.10, years after the song peaked at No.4 in 1984. Now, Michael Jackson has achieved Top 10 hits in the 1970s, '80s, '90s, 2000s, '10s, and the '20s. He has now surpassed Andy Williams. He previously held Top 10 placements in five different decades before he died in 2012.
One fan called Michael Jackson a "whole untouchable multiverse" following the latest milestone.
Fans celebrated the King of Pop's posthumous achievement and said that he's been running charts longer than most people have been alive. Someone else called it a "clear sign" that his music is timeless.
A fan called the Thriller music video the "greatest music video ever made." Someone else pointed out that Michael Jackson has been charting for seven decades, not six. That's if the Jackson Five hits are included.
Michael Jackson's biopic arrives in theaters in April 2026; the trailer is out now
The Hollywood Reporter first confirmed in January 2023 that Lionsgate was working on a biopic titled Michael. And stepping into the iconic shoes of the King of Pop is his own nephew Jaafar Jackson.
Michael is not hitting cinemas until April 2026. But it's already making history. Lionsgate recently released the first trailer for the movie, and according to WaveMetrix, it racked up over 116.2 million views within its 24 hours of release. It's now the most-viewed musical biopic trailer in history. It's also now the largest trailer debut for Lionsgate.
Jaafar Jackson can be seen trying to recreate Michael Jackson's iconic dance moves in the first trailer. That includes the iconic moonwalk. The teaser also shows a clip of the Thriller music video, which, as previously mentioned, has returned to the Billboard Hot 100's Top 10 list.
Michael also stars Miles Teller, who will play attorney John Branca, and Colman Domingo as Joe Jackson. Kat Graham is also going to play Diana Ross in the movie, and Nia Long is playing Katherine Jackson. Other confirmed cast members include Laura Harrier, Kendrick Sampson, and Juliana Krue Valdi, who will play the younger version of the King of Pop.
According to the official synopsis, the biopic will tell Michael's story "beyond the music" and his journey starting from his discovery and his talent that led to the Jackson Five and becoming the "biggest entertainer in the world." It further reads:
"Highlighting both his life off-stage and some of the most iconic performances from his early solo career, the film gives audiences a front-row seat to Michael Jackson as never before. This is where his story begins."
Catch Michael in cinemas on April 24, 2026.
