"Someone give her a hair net please" - Mariah Carey criticized by the internet for cooking with her hair open on Thanksgiving

On November 27, Mariah Carey posted a video on Instagram of her preparing Thanksgiving food, including her "annual anointed greens." In the video, her blonde, curly hair is all down as she cooks in the kitchen.

"We're making some greens, and I'm very excited about it because it's Thanksgiving," she said.

The video showed Mariah Carey pouring a large tub of greens into her pan and steaming them. She also explained her look for the occasion, wearing a cream-colored sweater that says "Miss Dior." She mentioned that she's wearing gloves because "that's what she likes." Then, she placed her greens in a steamer, saying this would be a "good batch."

The video also included Carey cooking parsley and garlic in oil. Another accessory she mentioned was her butterfly ring, which caught the cameraman's and many viewers' attention online.

In an interview with ELLE, Mariah Carey was asked about being "iconic". Carey is known for singing one of the most popular Christmas songs of all time, All I Want for Christmas Is You. She is also the only artist to have ranked first on the Billboard Hot 100 in four different decades.

"I don’t think I am [iconic]. Everybody tells me that I am, but I don’t know," she said.

This year, Mariah Carey released her first studio album in seven years, titled Here For It All. Speaking about her latest album, she said:

"I started making some records and then I had three, and then I had four. I kept writing and kept just recording different songs. I decided now that we have five new singles, let’s do ‘em all. The vibe of the album is different. There are up-tempos, mid-tempos, and duets."

Mariah Carey revealed that her favorite song from the album is the title track. Additionally, Carey spoke about one of her previous songs, Hero, and explained why it is meaningful to her.

"I am very thankful for ‘Hero,’ but I don’t always want to perform it because we performed it quite a bit. Sometimes, in the middle of singing it live, I’ll get choked up. It’s one of those songs."

Speaking to the Grammy website, Carey spoke about how she interpolated some of the lyrics from Rakim's popular track, Eric B is President, in her song Type Dangerous on her album.

"It's more like, What is my vibe right now? What am I feeling? And then sometimes, a specific word will just come to me that works within the sentence that we're singing. So I use it. And it's so funny, 'cause a lot of people say to me, 'I learned to speak English from you' and different things like that. It's amazing," she said.

With the holiday season approaching, Carey's Christmas song, All I Want for Christmas Is You, is expected to return to the charts. Meanwhile, her latest album is available on all streaming platforms.
