SZA and her NOT charity initiative have partnered with the Los Angeles-based restaurant chain Jon & Vinny’s to provide 1,400 free meals to individuals who receive SNAP benefits. SZA shared the cause through a joint Instagram post on November 11, 2025. The caption reads:

"Y'all know how much I love Jon and Vinny’s! But it ain’t no fun if the homies can’t have none!"

The Italian restaurant added:

“Last week [SZA] reached out to us with an idea and now, with her help, it’s a reality. Over the next 7 days we are partnering with her NOT Charity to provide 1400 free meals (100 dinners for 2 per day) for Los Angeles community members who receive SNAP.”

The SNAP beneficiaries are invited to register between November 11, 2025, and November 18, 2025, to sign up for a meal and schedule a pickup. The meals can be picked up as takeout from the restaurant’s Slauson location from 3 to 5 p.m. Jon and Vinny’s will be handing out pizzas, pastas, and garlic bread to the residents who get the SNAP benefits.

SNAP benefits (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program) are a U.S. federal program that provides food-purchasing assistance to low- and no-income individuals and families to help them get a more nutritious diet. Benefits are provided to the eligible individuals on a monthly basis through an EBT card, which can be used to purchase groceries at retail stores.

SZA’s commitment to food access and local partnerships through NOT charity

Born Solána Imani Rowe on November 8, 1989, in St. Louis, Missouri, SZA has become one of contemporary R&B’s most influential voices. In addition to music, she has since shifted much of the media attention to community empowerment.

Her work, NOT Charity, is representative of this move. The initiative has enabled SZA to collaborate with local organizations and businesses that focus on mitigating systemic food insecurity and access disparities in underserved communities.

The holistic orientation of NOT Charity is defined by the fact that, in addition to the one-time donations, the initiative involves direct community work and infrastructure support, like community fridges, food-access programs, and mutual-aid initiatives.

The organization was established earlier this year and has already funded community fridges in Los Angeles, ensured mutual-aid programs in New Jersey, and spearheaded food-access initiatives in the hometown area of SZA.

NOT Charity's orientation supports the social impact commitment of the SOS artist, which she has demonstrated by using her existing platform to impact people and communities in need. Her efforts in the organization portray a practical, relationship-oriented approach to philanthropy that emphasizes the distribution of resources and community, as opposed to one-time donations.

Every project that has been a part of NOT Charity has incorporated partnership with local stakeholders and direct service delivery to underserved populations, reinforcing SZA’s ongoing effort to address food insecurity through sustained, hands-on engagement.

The 1,400 free meals campaign involving the Los Angeles-based restaurant Jon & Vinny’s is an example of this strategy. The partnership was announced on November 11, 2025, and strives to offer meals to SNAP beneficiaries in Los Angeles for a period of seven days.
