According to Daily Mail, the 32-year-old singer’s transformation into Greta, the iconic character from the 1990 film Gremlins 2: The New Batch, involved extensive prosthetics and full-body makeup.

The look featured green scales, oversized monster ears, and a vibrant green wig. Thirlwall completed the transformation by recreating Greta’s signature outfit: a skimpy bralette paired with a matching mini skirt.

Over a year after her acclaimed debut single Angel of My Dreams, former Little Mix member Jade Thirlwall officially launched her first solo album That’s Showbiz, Baby! on Friday, September 12.

Speaking to People magazine at her album release party on Sunday, September 21, Thirlwall, 32, expressed sheer excitement about finally bringing her long-awaited project to life.

“I’ve waited a long time for this moment… I’m really buzzing about it, and the response has been incredible,” Jade Thirlwall told People.

The singer shared that creating That’s Showbiz, Baby! was a deeply personal process, marked by creative risks and heartfelt collaborations.

One of the standout features on the album, Thirlwall shared, was her use of a sample from The Supremes’ 1965 classic, a choice that came with both artistic and financial challenges. Thirlwall admitted that securing the rights wasn’t cheap, explaining that she had to give up “a lot” of her publishing royalties to make it happen.

“I love Diana Ross and the Supremes, so it felt right to have a song on the album that sampled that…So, whatever they take is fine by me,” Jade Thirlwall added.

Thirlwall said she didn’t hesitate to make that decision because of her lifelong admiration for Motown icons, describing the inclusion as a tribute to a sound that inspired her since childhood.

In addition to the sample, the album also showcased Thirlwall’s work with other acclaimed women in pop music.

She co-wrote Lip Service with Swedish pop star Tove Lo, a collaboration she called both fun and unexpected. Thirlwall explained that while the song “sounds innocent,” the lyrics were “pretty filthy.”

While speaking to People Magazine, the singer explained how working with Tove Lo came naturally, adding that they connected easily in the studio. She further remarked that she considered "No One Dies by Love” from Tove Lo’s Dirt Femme album “one of the best pop songs ever written.”

Another major contributor to That’s Showbiz, Baby! was British singer-songwriter RAYE, with whom Thirlwall worked on FUFN, Midnight Cowboy, and Silent Disco.

Describing RAYE as a “one-of-a-kind talent,” Thirlwall said their sessions went beyond songwriting.

She reflected that they shared a “mutual understanding” of the music industry’s highs and lows, especially as women who have been part of it for years. Thirlwall recalled that the two had a “bonding session” discussing the challenges they’ve faced and appreciated how RAYE “just gets it.”

That’s Showbiz, Baby! arrived just one week before fellow Little Mix member Perrie Edwards released her own debut solo album, with Leigh-Anne Pinnock also preparing for a new musical era.

Despite venturing into solo careers, Thirlwall told the outlet that the trio had maintained a warm and supportive relationship. She shared that her former bandmates reached out after her album dropped to congratulate her and that they still make an effort to see each other when possible.

“They messaged me congratulating me…I actually saw Leigh-Anne last night at an event, so we’ve seen each other. They’ve been very, very lovely,” Jade Thirlwall explained.
