Record producer Metro Boomin recently revisited the explosive rap beef between Drake and Kendrick Lamar in 2024, suggesting that he didn't take it too seriously. For the uninitiated, Metro Boomin and Future helped facilitate the song that kicked off the rap beef when they released Like That in March 2024, which included a feature from Kendrick Lamar dissing Drake and J. Cole.Notably, the record producer became one of Drake's many targets when the Canadian rapper fired back with Push Ups in April 2024, rapping, "Metro, shut your ho a** up and play some drums."During his recent interview on STREETZ 94.5, which aired on November 25, 2025, Metro Boomin revisited the feud and admitted that he didn't take it seriously. The topic of the beef arose when the interviewer told Metro that he had a good sense of humor, as the record producer laughed off a joke supposedly made at his expense during a set amid the beef. The interviewer further added that he knew Metro was not taking the feud seriously, to which the record producer agreed and replied:"Nah, man. It's WWE, man. You know, I still grew up in that era of that's what it was, before it ended up was what it is now... it's like personal."For the uninitiated, the incident the interviewer referenced could be Metro's set at the BRED Festival in Abu Dhabi on April 26, 2025, when a concertgoer heckled the record producer by yelling out the Push Ups line. According to Complex, Metro laughed off the line and said, "I heard that.”Metro Boomin said his relationship with Drake soured due to a "personal issue"The hip-hop world was surprised when Metro Boomin and Future teamed up to diss Drake in 2024, despite both artists having often collaborated with Drake in the past. Metro and Future released a two-part album in March and April 2024, titled We Don't Trust You, and We Still Don't Trust You.The albums were filled with shots at the Canadian rapper with the help of featured artists such as Kendrick Lamar, the Weeknd, and A$AP Rocky. During a 2024 interview with GQ Magazine for its 'Men of the Year' issue, Metro Boomin revealed that his falling-out with Drake stemmed from a "personal issue," saying:“Me and [Drake], we had a personal issue, and for the record, not over no girl or nothing silly like that. It was a personal issue that really hurt me and disappointed me. But if you take all the rap entertainment out of it, it’s like, have you ever been real cool with somebody, and y’all fell out over something? It happens every day. It’s just regular s**t. This just happens to have an audience.”Future and Metro Boomin performing at Future And Friends "One Big Party Tour" (Image via Getty)The record producer provided no further explanation beyond this. Furthermore, Metro Boomin said he regretted his online posts about Drake during the rap beef after the Canadian rapper took shots at him on his diss tracks, adding that it was "out of character" for him.“Now I did have my moment online, which I do regret. I should have been stronger than that. That was out of character for me. But at a certain point, it’s like, I don’t rap, bro, so you’re going to just s**t on me on all of these songs […] I’m not going to get in the booth, so I’m finna tweet at you,” he said. However, fans got an insight into the supposed reason for their falling out after rapper Young Thug's alleged prison calls leaked online in September 2025. The YSL rapper had previously urged Metro Boomin, Drake, and Future to put aside their differences via an X post in October 2024, where he tagged all three artists and wrote, "we all bruddas. Music aint the same without us collabin."In September 2025, Young Thug claimed that Drake was seemingly insensitive towards Metro Boomin after the latter lost his mother in 2022. According to Hot New Hip Hop, Thug further alleged in the leaked prison call that Drake approached Metro for something music-related after his mother's death, calling the Canadian rapper "stupid" for how he acted."I don't understand how anyone could approach him about music right now... n***a ain't even in the right head space... You think a n***a finna tell Drake, 'Man, I don't like that,'" Thug said.He added:"He [Drake] probably just sent some stupid condolences…instead of giving him some wisdom or something real... Then, you come back two three weeks later like, 'Yo, let me get this song...' instead of figuring it out... You using the fact that you’re Drake as a weapon now."ALMIGHTEE. @realalmighteeLINKYoung Thug calls Drake “stupid” for the way he treated Metro Boomin after his moms passing, which is why he got left off the album:“Drake so stupid he probably sent some stupid condolences… and then you come right back 2/3 weeks later like yo lemme get that song”In other news, Metro Boomin recently responded to a tweet from a fan accusing him of being the reason for the supposed feud between Drake and Future. In September 2025, an X user tweeted at Metro that he was "the reason we ain’t getting no more pluto and drizzy," to which the record producer responded, "cry me a river f**k boy."
