"Nothing can undo the trauma" - Cassie Ventura's lawyers issued a statement after Diddy's sentencing

On October 3, 2025, Judge Arun Subramanian sentenced Sean Combs to four years and two months (50 months) in prison. Despite being acquitted of sex trafficking and racketeering charged, the rapper was convicted of two counts of prostitution.

Cassie was one of the major witnesses of the rapper's highly publicized trial, and provided graphic depictions of his alleged "freak offs". Soon after the sentencing, Cassie's legal team released a statement lauding their client's "bravery and fortitude."

“While nothing can undo the trauma caused by Combs, the sentence imposed today recognizes the impact of the serious offenses he committed. We are confident that with the support of her family and friends, Ms. Ventura will continue healing, knowing that her bravery and fortitude have been an inspiration to so many," said Cassie's legal team.

After Combs' sentencing, his lawyers appealed for his bail but it was denied. The rapper currently remains in custody. Ventura appeared on court on four days during the trial while being heavily pregnant, giving crucial statements that led to his sentencing.

Meanwhile, Ventura also wrote a letter to Judge Subramanian ahead of his announcing Diddy's verdict. She wrote:

"My worries that Sean Combs or his associates will come after me and my family is my reality. I have in fact moved my family out of the New York area and am keeping as private and quiet as I possibly can because I am so scared that if he walks free, his first actions will be swift retribution towards me and others who spoke up about his abuse at trial."

Further, Ventura referenced the infamous video footage dating back to 2016, which went viral ahead of Diddy's arrest last year. It featured the rapper pulling Ventura and hitting her in a hotel lobby. Ventura added:

""The entire courtroom watched actual footage of Combs kicking and beating me as I tried to run away from a freak-off in 2016. People watched this footage dozens of times, seeing my body thrown to the ground, my hands over my head, curled into a fetal position to shield me from the worst blows."

"I know that who he was to me—the manipulator, the aggressor, the abuser, the trafficker—is who he is as a human. He has no interest in changing or becoming better."

As of this writing, Diddy has not been granted bail. However, his lawyers have criticised the verdict, claiming the rapper should have been granted bail.
