Lil Baby and Playboi Carti released new albums this year

Lil Baby and Playboi Carti are two of the many Atlanta rappers who released new albums in 2025. Lil Baby kicked the year off by releasing WHAM (an acronym for Who Hard As Me) on January 3, 2025. Meanwhile, Playboi Carti released his highly anticipated project MUSIC (also known as I AM MUSIC) on March 14, 2025.

While neither rapper was featured in the other's project, Lil Baby implied that the lack of collaboration was because of their closeness during an interview with Complex in January.

"[Playboi] Carti is my man. I’ve known Carti for a long time. I always knew him, but we just never really did music [together] because most of the people who I’ve known for awhile, it don't be weird making music [together], but I don't be pressed if they don’t be pressed. It is one of those things where it could happen whenever we want it to happen," he said.

"So it usually just don't be happening a lot, versus him calling me like, 'Bro, I need you [for a song],” or I'm calling him like, “Bro, I need you [for a song].' It just be more organic. It's inevitable for us to be in the same place. We always be in the same place. It just happens that we aren’t in the studio together [all the time]. But then when we do be in the studio together, it just flows like water," the rapper continued.

When asked whether he was featured on Playboi Carti's MUSIC, Lil Baby replied that he already felt like he was in the album "just being from Atlanta," adding that all Atlanta rappers "feed off each other in certain ways."

In August 2025, Lil Baby announced The Leak$, which reportedly featured Playboi Carti as one of the guest artists. The album, initially scheduled for release on August 15, 2025, was postponed to September 5. However, the 17-track album was delayed again, and the rapper has not announced a new release date as of this writing.

Meanwhile, Playboi Carti, who is currently on his "Antagonist 2.0 Tour," brought out Lil Baby and 42 Dugg as special performers during his stop at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on October 31, 2025. According to Setlist.fm, Carti and Baby performed We Paid and Freestyle.

Playboi Carti is scheduled to perform at TD Garden in Boston, Massachusetts, on November 4 as part of his ongoing tour.
