DJ Akademiks seemingly reacted to recent claims by Megan Thee Stallion that some of her online critics, including streamer Adin Ross, are “paid bots” defending Tory Lanez.

Megan, speaking on Instagram Live on October 26, 2025, stated that many of her haters appear to be paid individuals who intentionally target her online. She referred to accounts that allegedly had previously focused on unrelated topics but suddenly turned against her, as reported by Billboard on October 27, 2025.

"These are bots, these are paid people."

The remarks coincided with legal proceedings involving Ross, who had to appear for a deposition, allegedly in connection with his online statements supporting Lanez.

More on what Megan Thee Stallion said about paid "bots"

Megan Thee Stallion’s comments about “paid bots” followed the release of her single Lover Girl, which was released on October 24, 2025. The rapper made the allegations during a recent livestream on her TikTok page.

The rapper suggested that the intensity of some online harassment was unusual and financially motivated, noting that certain accounts she observed had previously posted about unrelated topics for years before targeting her, as reported by Billboard on October 27, 2025. In some clips circulating on social media, the rapper can be heard saying,

"If you scroll through some of these people’s tweets, it’d be a man tweeting about sports for 8 years, now all of a sudden he just hates Megan Thee Stallion. These people are getting paid to do this! Stop listening to them!"

DJ Akademiks publicly denied any allegations of being paid to support rapper Tory Lanez following Megan Thee Stallion's rant. He reposted Megan’s video on Instagram with the caption “lol” and called the accusations “silly,” asserting that bots have little to do with online criticism as reported by HotNewHipHop, on October 28, 2025

More about the lawsuit against Adin Ross

Meanwhile, streamer Adin Ross has also faced legal complications. In a previous livestream with DJ Akademiks, Ross reportedly claimed Megan’s attorneys used a mariachi band outside his home to serve legal papers, an unusual tactic he suggested was intended to provoke him into responding, as reported by Billboard on September 9, 2025.

"They called a mariachi to my house. They called a mariachi, like a Mexican band, to perform outside my house to make me want to come outside so they can serve me the paper"

Adin Ross is scheduled for a deposition, which he has discussed coordinating with his legal team to potentially livestream. He has publicly supported rapper Tory Lanez, who is serving a ten-year sentence following the 2020 shooting incident involving Megan Thee Stallion.

The idea of “paid bots” has been a recurring topic in hip-hop social media circles, with similar discussions previously surrounding artists such as Drake and Kendrick Lamar.

DJ Akademiks’ involvement in these disputes reflects the overlapping roles of commentators, influencers, and legal considerations in modern hip-hop culture, according to the report by HotNewHipHop on October 28, 2025.

While the deposition and online commentary continue to generate headlines, the outcomes of both the legal and public relations aspects of this situation remain unresolved.
