Road Uthaug's Troll 2 premiered globally on Netflix on December 1, 2025, continuing the story of Norway's most ancient threat. The film features returning cast from the original 2022 film, with Ine Marie Wilmann as palaeontologist Nora Tidemann, Kim S. Falck-Jørgensen as political advisor Andreas Isaksen, and Mads Sjøgård Pettersen as Major Kris Holm.
The plot expands the franchise’s mythology when a dangerous new troll, driven by an ancient grievance against the Christianization of Norway, awakens and unleashes devastation, marching toward Trondheim. The team puts all their efforts together to uncover the true, hidden meaning of the "Troll Law" established by King Olaf the Holy centuries ago.

Troll 2 concludes with the heroic sacrifice of Andreas Isaksen, who takes the explosive device containing holy water to be detonated within the massive creature. The film also features a post-credits scene hinting future installment in the series.
Troll 2 conclusion: Andreas's sacrifice, and the post-credits scene explained
The film's final scenes show Andrea’s desperate act to save his loved ones, the symbolic birth of his daughter Uhura, and the indefinite fate of the protective troll known as Beautiful.
The climactic confrontation in Troll 2 reunites Andreas Isaksen with Nora Tidemann and Kristoffer Holm, who are faced with the overwhelming power of a dangerous new troll. Recognizing the ancient vulnerability of these creatures to sacred relics, Andreas devises a risky, final strategy: strapping barrels of holy water with explosive charges.
Before jumping into the monster's mouth, Andrea calls Siggy one last time. As the detonator slipped from the helicopter, Andres followed, and soon an explosion followed, killing the monster for good. King Troll's child, Beautiful, who tried helping Nora and the team earlier, arises once more, tearing itself out from the older troll's heart.
Troll 2 final scene shifts focus to the lives of Andrea's partner, Siggy, and the birth of their new baby girl, Uhura. In the midst of the chaos, the secondary, benevolent troll, Beautiful, plays its final role. Having befriended the human protagonists, Beautiful acts as a vital shield, assisting the team in drawing the dangerous troll into Andreas’s trap.
The film’s conclusion provides a beautiful coda where Nora is content and at peace, with her beloved troll, Beautiful, trekking around outside her house, nestled among the snowy mountains. They are shown peacefully sharing the land, their home, suggesting that the alliance between humans and nature’s ancient forces can indeed be harmonious.
However, the post-credits scene of Troll 2 reveals that the threat is not contained, but is actively being cultivated by a rogue human element. After the first few credits roll, the scene cuts to Professor Møller (Jon Ketil Johnsen), the researcher who was seen earlier saving a small, vital stone, a piece of the troll, from the destroyed lab.
Talking to a "General" on a secure line, Møller delivers the ominous update: "I have great news, General," he says. "The specimen I was able to save has developed." He is then shown smiling, gazing at a small glass box that holds an angry, miniature troll, stating:
"Well, it doesn’t look like much now, but just give it some time."
This chilling revelation confirms the cycle of threat will continue, providing a compelling hook for future installments and suggesting that a faction of humanity intends to weaponize or control the very power that Andreas sacrificed himself to stop.
