Released on November 14, 2025, in the United States, Lotfy Nathan's psychological horror film, The Carpenter's Son, is inspired by the Infancy Gospel of Thomas.
The Infancy Gospel of Thomas is a second-century apocryphal (non-canonical) Christian text. It tells a series of sensational stories about the life of the child Jesus between the ages of five and twelve. The film tells the dark story of the Holy Family hiding out in Roman-era Egypt. The plot follows The Carpenter (Joseph) and The Mother (Mary) as they try to keep their teenage son, The Boy (Jesus), safe from negative forces.

FKA Twigs as The Mother

In The Carpenter's Son, Tahliah Debrett Barnett, known professionally as FKA Twigs, plays The Mother (Mary).
As a musician and dancer, FKA Twigs is widely recognized for her singing performances; however, she began appearing in films in 2019 when she appeared as the Shy Girl in Honey Boy. More recently, she appeared in the fantasy horror film, The Crow (2024).

Noah Jupe plays The Boy (Jesus), the restless teenage son of Joseph and Mary who holds miraculous powers. He begins to rebel after a mysterious stranger tempts him to use his abilities and thus accidentally unleashes a spiritual warfare.
The British actor earned critical praise for his role as young Otis Lort in the movie Honey Boy. His other significant performances include Marcus Abbott in the horror franchise A Quiet Place and its sequel, and as Peter Miles in the racing drama film Ford v Ferrari.
