What’s next for Selma Blair amid her MS remission? 'Legally Blonde' star talks about advocacy and acting plans

Selma Blair provided an update on her Multiple Sclerosis journey and her future plans. She was diagnosed with MS in 2018 and has openly shared her condition and experiences with the public.

In an interview with Stellar published on November 22, the actress shared a positive health update, mentioning that she has undergone rounds of chemotherapy and stem cell treatment in recent years and has been relapse-free for a "couple of years" now. Selma Blair also expressed her gratitude that her condition isn't worsening.

"That, of course, means the world to me that I'm not, at this moment, accumulating more damage in my brain. I have also made a lot of strides with the vibe of neuroplasticity."

The Legally Blonde actress also shared that she feels "very, very lucky." She said that while she understands that people's experiences with MS vary, she feels she has a space to speak publicly about the disease and help reduce the stigma.


Selma Blair is returning to acting after her positive MS update

Selma Blair has appeared in several movies and TV shows since 2018, when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. Some of her works since then include Another Life, guest appearances in Los In Space, and starring in movies like After, After We Collided, and A Dark Foe.

Her last project was the 2021 comedy-drama Far More, according to her IMDb page. Although she hasn't been acting over the past four years, Blair is ready to come back in front of the camera following her positive health update. She told Stellar in the November 22 issue that she has several acting projects in the pipeline.

"There are some [roles] coming up that I never saw coming. I am excited about getting back into movies."

It's not the first time the actress has teased her return to acting. In November 2024, she told Elle at the Elle Women in Hollywood event that she started feeling better the previous year and is now returning to work.

According to her IMDb page, she's set to star in the war film by Doron Eran, Stay Forte. It's a true story about three Israeli hostages who escaped from their Gazan captors. However, they were killed by IDF soldiers before they could return home. Another cast member involved in the project is two-time Oscar-nominated actor Judd Hirsch, best known for his role in the sitcom Taxi.

According to Variety in January 2025, the Cruel Intentions actress will also star in There There, a film by the brother duo Mark and Michael Polish. She will also appear in the supernatural thriller Silent, directed by Doron and Yoaz Paz.

Selma Blair detailed her MS journey in the 2021 documentary Introducing, Selma Blair. According to Rotten Tomatoes, the docufilm is available to watch on Max.
