The intruder who grabbed Ariana Grande during the Wicked: For Good Asian premiere in Singapore has been banned from the country. Countless posts on social media last week showed a social media influencer identified as Pyjamamann breaking through the barricades and throwing his arms around the singer-actress.

On Sunday, November 23, local media reported that the influencer identified as Johnson Wen was deported to Australia and "has been barred from re-entering Singapore." It was reportedly the decision of the city-state's immigration authority after the end of Wen's nine-day jail term.

During the incident at the Singapore premiere of the movie, Wicked: For Good co-star Cynthia Erivo quickly inserted herself into the situation and shoved the man away. She was later seen with co-star Michelle Yeoh consoling Ariana Grande, who appears visibly shaken by what happened.

As to Johnson Wen, he was detained shortly after the incident and later charged with being a public nuisance by a Singaporean court. Singapore authorities have taken the incident seriously and sentenced Wen to nine days in jail, along with his promise not to do it again.

That said, Singapore District Judge Christopher Goh, who issued the jail sentence, said that Wen "showed a pattern of behavior" that suggests he will do it again. While the initial ruling of a nine-day jail sentence is below the maximum penalty of three months in jail, Wen will also no longer be able to return to Singapore after being banned.

Variety reported that the movie recorded $150 million at the box office after showing in 4,115 North American theaters during its opening weekend. It shattered the record previously set by the first Wicked movie from November 2024, which reported $112.5 million in ticket sales. It means Wicked: For Good has now set the biggest debut for a Broadway adaptation.

In addition to the record-breaking box office numbers in the US, the film also collected an additional $76 million internationally. It now holds the No.1 spot in the overseas and global opening for a stage musical adaptation, a record previously held by its predecessor after recording $50.2 million internationally.

Cynthia Erivo also shared a series of behind-the-scenes photos on Instagram, including a message about words not being enough to convey her feelings to the fans about the movie and her character. She added, "Thank you for letting me be your Elphaba."
