Skit proves that 2007 may feel like it was only yesterday, but it was a different time! Three young ladies, Faye, Sarah, and Gabby, set out to create a viral video in the early days of the internet, encountering various challenges before, during, and after the experience.

The hilarious trip back in time features Jamie Linn Watson, Nataly Aukar, and Jamie Shapiro as the comedic trio. Skit is almost a meta look back at how the current content creator ecosystem came to be, with all the bumps and bruises along the way.

Jamie Shapiro, who also serves as the co-producer for Skit, said the following to Sportskeeda:

"I’m really proud. I’m proud of how we made it. The timeline that we made it in. The budget that we made it in. It’s just a really exciting project. I feel like the form kind of fits the content of unconventional filmmaking. I would describe it as a love letter to the internet."

Indeed, when one looks at the current landscape of influencers and content creators, it is difficult to fathom how 'hard around the edges' content in the 2000s used to be. Shapiro addressed Skit's theme - pretty much the origin story of content creation:

"There’s this whole new sphere of creators online and a lot of us started on Youtube, a lot of us started in the early aughts watching Youtube and forming our own senses of weird humor off the internet. So, I think the writers really nailed that and spoke to our generation in a really exciting, and silly and ridiculous way."

What advice would Jamie Linn Watson give to the Skit cast?

Jamie Linn Watson finds many similarities between herself and the character she plays in the movie, Sarah. If Watson were to give advice to Sarah, Gabby, and Faye, she would say the following:

"I guess I would say finding your voice is important but it doesn’t matter how long it takes. So, I feel like especially with the film a lot of it is honestly trying to figure out what to do, what their voice is, what’s funny. How to make something. And those are all important steps but I think the best advice I can give to someone is you can’t rush that experience. You can’t rush the time it takes to like find your voice and find what you think is funny and find what other people respond to."

Much like the characters in Skit, even Jamie Linn Watson took a minute to find her voice and become a viral sensation:

"Because that took me a while, you know. And even in the film it’s the same way where it takes them a minute. And it doesn’t work right away, you know. The thing they try first doesn’t work and that’s okay. Sometimes, the thing you try first won’t be the be all-end all."
