Cillian Murphy is back in Thomas Shelby's shoes as Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man confirms release in March 2026

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man, the highly anticipated continuation of Steven Knight's British historical crime drama television series, Peaky Blinders, is officially on its way, set for a release in select theatres on March 6, 2026, before its global debut on Netflix on March 20.

Oscar-winner Cillian Murphy is set to step back into the role of Thomas Shelby, promising a huge cinematic chapter for the story. The movie picks up in 1940, right in the middle of World War II, a time of great chaos and danger. The plot sees Tommy Shelby pulled out of his quiet life to face what’s being called his "most destructive reckoning yet."

With the future of both his family's empire and the country hanging in the balance, Cillian Murphy's Thomas Shelby will have to confront the choices he's made and decide whether to protect the legacy he built or tear it all down in the upcoming Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man.

Speaking about his return to Netflix, the Oppenheimer star gave a short and powerful statement:

“It seems like Tommy Shelby wasn’t finished with me. It is very gratifying to be re-collaborating with Steven Knight and Tom Harper on the film version of Peaky Blinders. This is one for the fans.”

Beyond Murphy, several familiar faces are set to return back in Birmingham. Sophie Rundle is confirmed to reprise her role as Tommy’s sister, Ada Thorne. Also returning are loyal allies, including Ned Dennehy as Charlie Strong, Packy Lee as Johnny Dogs, and Ian Peck as the stablehand Curly.

Additionally, Stephen Graham is back as the union leader Hayden Stagg, a character introduced late in the series. Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is also bringing new faces in its ensemble with Rebecca Ferguson, Tim Roth, and Barry Keoghan, among other actors.

After Knight confirmed about finalising the film's script in December 2023, he revealed about Murphy's Thomas Shelby return in the film on June 2024. Later, the filming began in late September 2024 and was wrapped up by middle of December 2024.

The Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man production crew used the same places as the show, mostly around the West Midlands and the North West of England. This included the show's home city of Birmingham, where they used Steven Knight's new Digbeth Loc Studios and the old canals. Tom Harper, who directed the first season of the TV show, came back to direct the film.

The film is the continuation of the British show Peaky Blinders which is about the Shelby family, led by the smart and tough Tommy Shelby, as they rise to power in Birmingham, England, after World War I.

They run a feared street gang famous for their flat caps with razor blades. The story follows their growing business, fights with rival gangs, and their transition into politics. Viewers can stream all six seasons of the show on Netflix before catching the upcoming film on theatres releasing on March 6, 2026.
