New York-based ElevenLabs has announced the launch of its “Iconic Voices Marketplace,” a platform that enables brands, creators, and media producers to license celebrity voices for use in AI. In ElevenLabs' blog post on November 11, Sir Michael Caine, who retired from acting in 2023, said the partnership allows him to continue sharing his voice and legacy in new ways.

''For years, I’ve lent my voice to stories that moved people – tales of courage, of wit, of the human spirit. Now, I’m helping others find theirs. With ElevenLabs, we can preserve and share voices – not just mine, but anyone’s.”

The Oscar-winning actor emphasized that the goal of AI voice technology should not be to replace human creativity but to support and expand it.

"ElevenLabs gives everyone the tools to be heard. It’s not about replacing voices; it’s about amplifying them, opening doors for new storytellers everywhere. I’ve spent a lifetime telling stories. ElevenLabs will help the next generation tell theirs.”

Matthew McConaughey, who is also an investor in ElevenLabs, said he is using the technology to expand his newsletter, Lyrics of Livin’, which shares personal stories and reflections. As reported by Variety, the newsletter will soon be available in Spanish, powered by an AI-generated version of McConaughey’s voice.

''Since our first conversation, I’ve been impressed by how the ElevenLabs team has taken the magic of the core technology and turned it into products that creators, enterprises and storytellers use daily,” McConaughey said.

“I launched my newsletter, ‘Lyrics of Livin’, as a way to share stories and ideas in my own voice with those who want to listen. Now, thanks to ElevenLabs, ‘Lyrics of Livin’’ is expanding with a Spanish language edition, allowing us to reach and connect with even more people.”

Matthew McConaughey also encouraged responsible development of voice technology.

''To everyone building with voice technology: keep going. You’re helping create a future where we can look up from our screens and connect through something as timeless as humanity itself — our voices.”

The collaboration with McConaughey and Caine is part of ElevenLabs’ ongoing efforts to establish consent-based voice licensing. The company’s Iconic Voices Marketplace aims to provide verified partnerships that allow public figures to control how their voices are used in AI-generated projects across creative industries.
