Premiered at the 2025 New York Film Festival on October 6, 2025, the film stars Timothée Chalamet as the lead, Marty Mauser, a frenetic and ruthlessly ambitious table tennis hustler in 1952 New York City, loosely inspired by the life of player Marty Reisman.

The film is loosely inspired by the life of the late American champion table tennis player and author, Marty Reisman.

The supporting cast features Gwyneth Paltrow as Kay Stone, a wealthy, retired actress, Odessa A'zion as Marty's lifelong friend and love interest Rachel, Kevin O'Leary as businessman Milton Rockwell, and Tyler, the Creator (Tyler Okonma) as Marty's friend Wally, among other actors.

The Dune star is taking the lead role of Marty Mauser in Josh Safdie's directorial debut, Marty Supreme. The plot revolves around Marty, a gifted but abrasive ping-pong player, who dreams of global stardom in a sport few in America take seriously.

The American-French actor first rose to fame with his role as Elio Perlman in the romantic drama Call Me by Your Name (2017). Subsequently, he gave memorable performances in films such as Lady Bird (2017) and Little Women (2019), and in Beautiful Boy (2018) as the drug-addicted Nic Sheff.

The Wonka star also played Paul Atreides in Denis Villeneuve's epic space opera films Dune (2021), Dune: Part Two (2024) and is set to appear in the final chapter Dune: Part Three (2026).
