“Depends on the script,” she said when asked if she would be interested in the role, adding that she has always been a fan of the franchise and is “excited and curious to see what they do with it.”

Sweeney’s name has reportedly been linked to the Bond series partly because of her connection with Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, who co-produces the franchise and with whom she has business ties through her lingerie line. She said that her decision would depend on the project itself, saying,

More about Sydney Sweeney's acting career

Sydney Sweeney’s journey to becoming one of Hollywood’s most popular young actors has involved many twists and creative risks.

According to Variety, Australian filmmaker David Michôd initially overlooked her for the role of Christy, a film based on the life of trailblazing boxer Christy Martin. That changed after he saw her in the 2023 film Reality, a Berlin Film Festival standout in which Sweeney played Reality Winner, an intelligence leaker, using real FBI transcripts. Her performance convinced Michôd that she had “astonishing” depth.

To prepare for Christy, Sweeney trained for months, gained 30 pounds of muscle, and performed authentic recreations of Martin’s exact fight combinations. At the Toronto International Film Festival, she received a standing ovation.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter on October 26, 2025, Sweeney revealed that Martin herself was moved to tears after seeing the film, telling her,

"I felt like you went back in time and you were there during these moments in my life."

Recent media attention on Sydney Sweeney

Sydney Sweeney received significant attention for an American Eagle campaign, where the phrase “good jeans” in the ad sparked online debate. The campaign garnered comments from public figures and media, including a Columbia University professor and President Donald Trump, as reported by Variety on October 27, 2025.

Co-stars and collaborators describe her as professional and prepared. Paul Feig, director of The Housemaid, stated that Sweeney is attentive to social media trends and publicity but maintains control over her projects. Ben Foster, who co-stars in Christy, also described her professionalism and preparation for sensitive scenes portraying abuse, noting that she approaches her roles seriously and responsibly.

Sweeney has also said that being an actress requires asserting one’s value in an industry where female performers often face challenges in negotiating recognition and compensation.

In addition to her film projects, Sydney Sweeney is returning to HBO’s Euphoria for its upcoming third season. According to Variety, this season will feature emotionally and narratively significant developments for her character, Cassie Howard.

Sweeney’s upcoming film lineup includes Christy, debuting on November 7, 2025, and The Housemaid on December 19, 2025.
