Emma Tammi's Five Nights at Freddy's 2 follows Mike Schmidt and his younger sister, Abby, as they try to live a normal life after the horror of the first movie. However, when remnants of the old Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria resurface, along with upgraded Toy animatronics, Mike is pulled back into the nightmare he thought he escaped.

Things truly start to escalate when Abby sneaks out to find Freddy and the others, setting off a terrifying chain of events that exposes the dark and secret origin of Freddy's restaurant. Released on December 5, the film features Josh Hutcherson, Elizabeth Lail, Piper Rubio, Freddy Carter, Theodus Crane, and Wayne Knight, among others, in its ensemble.

The supernatural horror sequel features one post-credit and one mid-credit scene. The mid-credits scene shows people finding the Springtrap suit, which has William Afton's body inside. They take it to use in a new haunted house. An end-credits audio warns that Henry Emily's daughter, the Marionette, is seeking revenge.

Five Nights at Freddy's 2 follows the modern trend of using end-credit scenes to set the stage for future movie installments. The sequel features two main teases: a visual scene in the middle of the credits and an audio clip at the very end.

The mid-credits scene gives fans a huge payoff by bringing back the original killer, William Afton, in his terrifying new form. In this scene, a team of scavengers breaks into the old, abandoned Freddy Fazbear’s Pizzeria, which is about to be torn down.

While looking for props to create a new attraction, they soon find the Springtrap animatronic, the broken, bunny-like suit with William Afton’s body still trapped and decaying inside, a key element from the end of the first film. They move the suit, intending to use it for their horror experience.

The Five Nights at Freddy's 2 post-credits scene is an audio-only tease, much like the one in the first film. Right as the final names roll, the audience hears a voicemail message from a new character, Henry Emily. Henry is William Afton's former business partner and a central figure in the original video game story.

In the message, he confesses his regrets about helping to create the killer animatronics and warns Mike that Henry's own daughter, Charlotte, now possessed by the Marionette puppet, is seeking revenge.

The message is suddenly cut off by the distinct sound of the Marionette attacking Henry, suggesting that this key character's fate has been sealed and that the Marionette will be a major threat going forward.

These two Five Nights at Freddy's 2 post-credit scenes clearly set a path for a third movie, featuring Springtrap as the main monster and introducing the Marionette as a powerful force of revenge. However, despite these clear story setups, there have been no official announcements from Universal Pictures or Blumhouse Productions about a third film yet.

Both Five Nights at Freddy's 2 and its 2023 predecessor are based on the highly popular video game series of the same name, created by Scott Cawthon. The sequel is now playing in theatres.
