James Atkins's Clayface lead actor and more about the eponymous character from DC Comics

Tom Rhys Harries is taking the lead as Matt Hagen/Clayface in the upcoming body horror film. The Welsh actor is known for his role as Manchester DJ Axel Collins in Netflix's White Lines (2020) and Eddie Walker in the Apple TV+ series Suspicion (2022).
In the DC Comics, the alias Clayface has been held by several characters, all of whom are shapeshifting enemies of Batman. The original, Basil Karlo, debuted in 1940 as a disgruntled B-list horror actor who committed crimes while wearing a clay mask.
The Silver Age introduced Matt Hagen in Detective Comics #298 (1961). He gained his shapeshifting and regenerative powers from exposure to a pool of radioactive protoplasm.
Today, Karlo is the most prominent version, having gained Matt Hagen's clay-like physiology and shapeshifting abilities, allowing him to copy anyone's appearance and voice, making him a complex and formidable foe whose nature often shifts between villainy and tragedy.
Naomi Ackie to appear as Dr. Caitlin Bates in DC's upcoming body horror film

Actress Naomi Ackie will feature in the film as the scientist Dr. Caitlin Bates, a love interest of Hagen. The American actress is known for her role in The End of the F***ing World (2019), for which she won the BAFTA TV Award for Best Supporting Actress.
Naomi recently appeared in sci-fi dark comedy film Mickey 17 alongside Robert Pattinson, and as a local police officer in Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club. She has a few upcoming projects in 2026, which include films like Shelter and I Love Boosters, besides this one.
