During a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight at the Governors Awards, Amanda Seyfried was asked about the status of Mamma Mia 3, to which she replied:

''I love portraying a mom, so I would love to see Sophie with her kids, Maybe she has a cousin she hasn’t seen in a while, and that could be Sabrina Carpenter. And then Sydney Sweeney could show up. There’s a bunch of girls that really want to be a part of it, and I’m all for it.”

Amanda Seyfried mentioned that a sequel might be in the works, but there’s no solid green light just yet. Pressed on if things are really rolling, she hinted:

“Maybe I’m just naive, but I’m pretty sure Mamma Mia 3 is a done deal.”

Although there is no official confirmation about Mamma Mia 3, Seyfried spilled some details during a chat with Entertainment Tonight; besides that, she said plenty of the original crew might come back if it happens, still holding onto that cozy vibe fans like.

“I just know the three dads are going to come back, and we still won’t know who the dad is because it doesn’t matter. Meryl [Streep] is a ghost, obviously, so she’ll be around. And Julie [Walters] and Christine [Baranski] will be back singing and looking hot and we’re all going to be somewhere tropical. And ABBA will be playing.”

The Mamma Mia movie was released in 2008, based on a stage show that utilized ABBA songs. Ten years later, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again arrived, mixing flashbacks with continuation. Even though people have talked about doing another one since then, nothing official's happened yet.

Still, actors continue to show that they’re keen to return. Back in 2023, while speaking with Variety, Sydney Sweeney expressed interest in being part of the movie, shared her love for the film, and mentioned that she would like to shoot in Greece.

Although nothing has been confirmed, her comments have added to the ongoing discussions about a potential Mamma Mia 3. It also sparked curiosity about its possible storyline if it moves forward.
