Djokovic suggested that the authorities were lenient in Jannik Sinner's doping case and that they ensured the Italian doesn't miss a Grand Slam tournament. Madison Keys jokingly said she's jealous of Elena Rybakina's record $5.2 million prize money from the WTA Finals victory. Keys also revealed that the photoshoot for the year-end championship was held indoors to respect the culture of Saudi Arabia, since some of the dresses were off-shoulder.

On that note, let's explore the stories of the day:

During a recent interview with Piers Morgan, Novak Djokovic revealed that apart from his wife, Jelena, he has never had a serious relationship. However, the Serb said she was introduced to him as his friend's girlfriend. Djokovic recalled that after winning a match, his friend displayed a message for Jelena when the former World No. 1 came to know about her.

"He took out his jersey and underneath the jersey, he had a white shirt that read, ‘Jelena, I love you. This is for you.’ And we were like, ‘Oh my god, that’s so lame, why would you do that?’ And then, ‘Who is this Jelena?’ And it was her," Djokovic said.

The 38-year-old added that they stayed connected through common friends for around five years before dating each other.

"So she is basically the only serious, like long serious relationship I’ve ever had. I had obviously some few months relationships here and there. She’s truly the love of my life," he concluded.

#2. Aryna Sabalenka miffed about Nike denying her custom outfits

For the second time in a row, Aryna Sabalenka finished the year as the World No. 1, despite losing the 2025 WTA Finals title clash to Elena Rybakina. The Belarusian's biggest wins came at the US Open, Miami, and Madrid.

However, fans were unhappy with her outfits, and she revealed that she wasn't too excited about her next season's kits either. Speaking at a press conference in Riyadh, the four-time Grand Slam winner said she won't receive custom outfits in 2026, while expressing hope for 2027.

"Unfortunately, next season, it's not gonna be that special for me. Maybe we should just start messaging Nike Instagram and putting some pressure on. Let's wait for 2027 because that year is going to be sick," Sabalenka said.

#3. Novak Djokovic weighs in on Jannik Sinner's doping case

Last year, Jannik Sinner tested positive for a banned substance called clostebol. In February 2025, he was slapped with a three-month ban, which divided the tennis world, with many citing leniency towards the Italian.

Novak Djokovic seems to agree. Although he doesn't believe that Sinner did it knowingly, the Serb said the 24-year-old was responsible and got away with mild punishment. In his interview with Piers Morgan, Djokovic said:

"When this happened, I was shocked, honestly. I do think that he didn’t do it on purpose. But the way the whole case was handled is so many red flags. The lack of transparency, the inconsistency, the convenience of the ban coming between the Slams so he doesn’t miss out… it was very very odd."

"I want to believe him. Knowing my history with him, I think he didn't do it on purpose, but, of course he is responsible. Because those are the rules, you are responsible when something like this happens. And so when you see someone for something very similar or the same being banned for years and he's banned for a provisional 3 months or whatever it was, it's not right," he added.

Elena Rybakina won the WTA Finals 2025 without losing a match and walked away with $5.235 million, the highest on the WTA and the ATP tours. On the latest episode of 'The Player's Box' podcast, Madison Keys jokingly told Jessica Pegula that she was jealous of the Kazakh's paycheck.

While Keys failed to clear the group stage, Jessica Pegula lost to Rybakina in the semifinals. Both players showered praise on the 26-year-old, especially her serve.

"Someone ended their year very well. Rybakina won. She beat Aryna 6-3, 7-6 (0) in the (WTA) Finals," Pegula said.
"She had an insane couple of weeks," Keys remarked.
"She hit 13 aces and won 67 percent of her first serves. She was serving like a joke," Pegula added. "She went undefeated. She won undefeated and she wins $5.2 million."

#5. Madison Keys reveals why WTA Finals photoshoot was held indoors

The majority of tennis fans had criticized the WTA Finals photoshoot when it was released on October 31. The eight players to qualify this year were Aryna Sabalenka, Iga Swiatek, Coco Gauff, Amanda Anisimova, Jessica Pegula, Elena Rybakina, Madison Keys, and Jasmine Paolini.

Speaking on 'The Player's Box' podcast, Keys recently claimed that out of respect for Saudi Arabia's culture, the photoshoot was held inside Riyadh's Bab AlSaad Resort. A few of the players wore off-shoulder dresses, which could have caused trouble.

"We didn't do a smile picture," Keys said. "I heard that they were trying to find like a closed location, obviously because some of the dresses, it was like the shoulders were showing or like there was a cutout or something."
"I heard that they were kind of running into an issue last year where if shoulders were out or there was a cutout or something and you guys took your pictures in a more like public place, it was like you kind of had to be like shielded away a little bit," she added.
