Aryna Sabalenka, Novak Djokovic, and several other top tennis stars are enjoying their offseason in the Maldives or the Bahamas. However, Linda Noskova has taken a different route. The 21-year-old Noskova is volunteering in Zanzibar after ending her season in October. The Czech player shared several updates about her trip to the African nation via her Instagram account @my_life_as_linda, where she posts all about her off-court life.During her time volunteering in Zanzibar, Noskova answered a series of questions from fans, reflecting on what she has experienced and learned. When asked whether the people or the wildlife had left any lasting impact on her, the Czech player explained that the trip had made her far more aware of her own advantages. She said it reminded her of “how fortunate” she is.Asked about school life at the place where she volunteers, Noskova described an overwhelming but deeply emotional environment."It is all very different, obviously. Here at the school where I volunteer, there are kids who are orphans — no family, no money, no home. There are around 300 kids here with around six teachers. Imagine the chaos," she wrote. She added that it was painful to acknowledge that many of these children may never enjoy the opportunities she had growing up, even though she never came from wealth herself."That’s why I spend as many hours per day with them as possible, and try to teach them a bit of something along the way as well," she added.Noskova's trip comes at a time when many tennis players focus on resting and recharging for the new season. World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka was in the Maldives along with Belinda Bencic, Katerina Siniakova, and Jelena Ostapenko, among others. Meanwhile, Djokovic was enjoying his time in the Turks and Caicos Islands.Linda Noskova points out the disparity she has witnessed in ZanzibarLinda Noskova at the Toray Pan Pacific Open - Source: GettyFans also wanted to know what had surprised Linda Noskova the most during her Zanzibar volunteering trip. Noskova pointed out the stark contrast between Zanzibar’s image as a tourist destination and the harsh reality many locals face."Just the conditions, I guess. Although Zanzibar is a tourist location, there is extreme poverty in so many places in the city. Then on the other hand, you go by the sea or the beach and see these beautiful 4-star hotels, nice restaurants, and private yachts. It makes you sad when you go back," she wrote (via the aforementioned tweet).Linda Noskova made deep runs in several WTA 500 and WTA 1000 events, but didn't win any of them. At the end of the season, she reached the WTA 1000 final in Beijing but was defeated by Amanda Anisimova. In her final event of the season, she reached the championship match of the Toray Pan Pacific Open. Here, she lost to Belinda Bencic 2-6, 3-6, adding to the WTA 250 final defeat in Prague.
