Jannik Sinner reached the title game of the ATP Finals after defeating Alex de Minaur 7-5, 6-2 in Turin. With that, he achieved something only done by two other players.

Sinner has reached all the finals of major championships this year, on top of reaching the finals at Turin. The only other two players who have achieved such a high standard in tennis history are 20-time Grand Slam champion Roger Federer and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic. His arch-rival, Carlos Alcaraz, who won eight ATP titles and two Grand Slams in 2025, has also not achieved such a feat.

Novak Djokovic achieved this feat in 2015 when he reached the final of all four Grand Slams and also won the ATP World Tour Finals, defeating Roger Federer in the title game.

Meanwhile, Federer achieved this feat in 2006 when he won the Australian Open, Wimbledon, US Open and ATP Tour Finals while finishing runner-up at Roland Garros.

As for Sinner this year, the Italian won the Australian Open, lost against Carlos Alcaraz at Roland Garros, avenged his loss by beating the Spaniard in Wimbledon before coming up short in the US Open to Alcaraz. It remains to be seen if he can win the year-end championship match.

The ATP Finals championship will take place on Sunday and pretty soon, we'll know who will face Jannik Sinner there.

Carlos Alcaraz, who finished unbeaten in his group, is scheduled to face Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime in the other semifinal on Saturday. Auger-Aliassime defeated Alexander Zverev to reach the semi-final and will now battle Alcaraz for a spot in the final.

Meanwhile, Sinner is happy to return to the finals of the ATP Tour championship.

“First of all, I am very happy,” Sinner said after the semifinal win via ATP Tour. “It is the last event of the year and it is great to finish in this way. It was a very tough match, especially at the beginning of the first set. I felt like he was serving great, very precise. In the second set, I broke very early and then my level rose.

"I tried to be a bit more aggressive and it worked well but it was a tough match. But making the final for three consecutive years means a lot to me. It is a great atmosphere for me to play tennis and a great place for me to close this beautiful season. Tomorrow I will enjoy and try my best to get the best possible result.”

Jannik Sinner is the defending champion of this tournament, and he would like to end the year on a high. However, he might not be able to reclaim the No. 1 ranking title from Carlos Alcaraz irrespective of the results.
