What Carlos Alcaraz said at year-end World No. 1 award ceremony at ATP Finals after pipping Jannik Sinner in front of his home fans

Carlos Alcaraz received his ATP Year-End No. 1 trophy on Friday at the Nitto ATP Finals. He secured the top spot after winning each of his three group-stage games and qualifying for the semifinals in Turin.

Alcaraz finished with the Year-End No. 1 trophy for the second time in his career, the first time coming after a clinical season in 2022. The Spaniard finished nearly 1,000 points ahead of Jannik Sinner, who ended the year in second place.

Alcaraz was delighted to have achieved one of his main goals this season.

"For me to be number one again in the world, it's a great pleasure for me, obviously. Being the number one in the world is something that I'm working really hard for with my team every day. It is a goal, to be honest," Carlos Alcaraz said.

Alcaraz has won 70 of 78 matches this season, lifting titles at the French Open, US Open, Monte-Carlo, Rome and Cincinnati.

The 22-year-old, who often travels with his coach, Juan Carlos Ferrero, his father, Carlos Alcaraz Gonzalez, and his older brother, Alvaro, thanked his team for the support.

"I think it is a journey that you’re not going through alone. It’s with your whole team, with your family, with your close people behind you always supporting you in the tough and good moments, which I’m really, really proud about: having such a great team,” Alcaraz said.

Carlos Alcaraz, who will face either Alexander Zverev or Felix Auger-Aliassime in the semifinals in Turin, also made sure to give a shout-out to his fans all over the globe.

“I want to continue because the support that I’m receiving everywhere that I’m going, I can’t thank enough the people,” Carlos Alcaraz said. “We’re traveling since the 1st of January until the end of November, new places, new countries, new stages and the people are always the same. The great energy, the great atmosphere, I feel the love everywhere that I’m going.

Alcaraz has a chance to capture his ninth trophy of the season in Turin.
