Carlos Alcaraz seems to be making the most of the brief tennis off-season. The World No. 1 recently jetted off to the Maldives with his friends and was spotted trying his hand at fishing. The 22-year-old Spaniard managed to land a big catch, and unsurprisingly, he appeared ecstatic about it.

Artist MRDRIP, a friend of Alcaraz, shared two brief videos and a picture on Instagram on Wednesday. The first video showed the rear of a motorboat with multiple fishing rods, while the second showed a smiling Carlos Alcaraz enjoying fishing.

The picture at the end showed the Spaniard and his friends delighted at having landed a sizeable catch in the waters of the Indian Ocean.

Even though the six-time Major champion's 2025 tennis season officially came to an end with his runner-up finish at the year-end ATP Finals, he is set to feature in two high-profile exhibition events in the USA in early December.

He will face Frances Tiafoe on December 7 in Newark, New Jersey, before locking horns with Brazilian teenage sensation Joao Fonseca in Miami.

The Australian Open remains the only Major that Carlos Alcaraz has yet to conquer. The Spaniard has never made it past the quarterfinals in Melbourne, but in an interview with El Partizado de Cope earlier this year, he expressed his desire to win the tournament next year and become the youngest player to complete the Career Slam.

"In 2026 I’d rather win Australia alone than win two repeated Grand Slams," he said.

The 22-year-old also said that despite his No. 1 ranking, he still has a long way to go before he can feel confident about being the best men's tennis player in the world.

"I’m far from being the best player in tennis or overall, because there are still many players who can beat me and I’ve lost to many players. I’m not the best, despite the ranking showing that I am," he added.

Carlos Alcaraz won eight titles in 2025, taking his career title haul to 24.
