Coco Gauff is only 21 and is already a two-time Grand Slam champion. It's a big feat, but former World No. 1 doubles player Rennae Stubbs believes it's not enough given the number of titles the legendary Serena Williams won by that time.Stubbs said in context that she believes Gauff wants to do great things like Williams, who has won 23 Grand Slams. But Stubbs wants the American to buckle up and win at least two every year for at least a decade if she wants to come near the greatness of Williams."That’s her words, not mine," Stubbs said on her podcast. "She has consistently sort of put it out there and not been afraid to say that she wants to be as great as Serena Williams. And I’m like, okay, well, they won a lot of major titles when they were eighteen, nineteen, twenty."Okay, you’ve got two unbelievable, at your age to do what you’ve done. So if you want to get to twenty, you gotta win two for ten years, or you’re gonna win a lot in a short period of time, depending on how long you want to play for. So I think in some respects that’s disappointing because she wants to rack them up."Stubbs' reaction made headlines on social media and fans slammed the former tennis professional for her "disappointing" take on Gauff."So weird and tiring, especially that Coco has constantly said that she wants to make her own history and just inspired by the Williams sisters. Genuinely nothing disappointing about Coco’s career at the age of 21. Rennae Stubbs’s comments on here tho? Extremely disappointing," one fan commented."21 years old with 2 slams is disappointing? this woman really hates Coco bc other girls in the top 10 don’t even have 1 slam or took longer to get there. not to mention, who said that Coco has to get to twenty anyway? it’s very suspect that she’s held to this weird standard," another added."serena standard is unfair for anyone until they get to 12 slams," one fan wrote."and even with the full quote in context, Coco has never said that she wanted to match or surpass that slam count. just putting her words in her mouth smh," another added."Typical nasty Stubbs. She targets certain players which is so completely inappropriate and unprofessional in her job," one fan commented."XD. Shes next to Iga and Aryna one of multiple GS champ but ofc," one fan reacted."I’m flabbergasted to say the least what a stupid thing to say. In the era of Iga I think it’s unfair. Coco hasn’t even reached her peak," one fan said.Coco Gauff has won two Grand Slams and 14 WTA titles in her careerCoco Gauff reached the fourth round at the age of just 15 in her Grand Slam debut at Wimbledon.
