Stefanos Tsitsipas' mother, Julia, has revealed that he will try his best to make good on his promise of winning a Major despite Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner standing in the way. However, there's something she will need to do in return as well for him. The 27-year-old has accomplished a lot in his career, from being a top 10 mainstay to winning multiple Masters 1000 titles.

Grand Slam glory has evaded Tsitsipas thus far, faltering at the very last hurdle after reaching a couple of Major finals. The consistency that ensured his position among the tour's elite deserted him this year, and he stumbled down in the rankings. In a recent interview with the Russian website SPORTS.RU, his mother shed light on his career goals.

Alcaraz and Sinner have dominated the tour for the past two years, sweeping all Majors between them since the start of 2024. According to Tsitsipas' mother, they're the only players to beat at the moment, a thought her son and others on the tour have entertained. She said that Tsitsipas will try his best to win a Major but only if she prioritizes her own health.

"I think he has this thought deep down. It happens to all tennis players. If anyone says otherwise, I simply won't believe it. On the other hand, Stepa periodically convinces me to exercise. I'm 61, after all. My physical activity consists of walks with my beloved dogs. And my dogs are the kind that require rest after a walk. I also love swimming—I go for a swim when I can and can't. I especially enjoy it from December to March, when the water is at its coldest," Tsitsipas' mother said.

"So he says to me: "Mom, if you do this program in the gym, you'll become more resilient. And I promise you I'll win the Grand Slam."This is his hope, this is his incentive - that his mother will become healthier," she added.

If Tsitsipas intends to beat the tour's top two players, then he will need to step up his game. While he has a winning record against Sinner, he hasn't won a match against Alcaraz thus far.

Stefanos Tsitsipas has his work cut out for him if he plans to interrupt Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner's duopoly on the tour. He has never beat the Spaniard so far, going 0-6 against him. Their first meeting was a five-set affair at the US Open 2021, and the match remains their most competitive contest.

Tsitsipas has won only one set against Alcaraz over their next five matches. While he leads Sinner 6-3 in the head-to-head, most of his wins came before the Italian's transformation into a dominant force on the tour.

Sinner laid the foundation of his current dominance towards the end of the 2023 season. They've met twice since then, and have split those two meetings evenly. Tsitsipas will need to improve his game by leaps and bounds if he wants to re-assert himself as an elite player capable of beating the best.
