Former Australian tennis player Rennae Stubbs claimed that the Bondi Beach mass shooting death toll would have been much worse had it happened in the USA due to the stringent gun laws in her country. In one of the devastating mass shooting incidents of this century, two gunmen shot down 15 people at the parkland of Bondi Beach in Sydney on Sunday, December 14.

Two gunmen, a father and son, opened fire on the Hanukkah event at Bondi Beach. According to the New South Wales Police, it was a terrorist attack on Sydney's Jewish community. After the incident, the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese claimed that the Bondi Beach shooting was "an act of antisemitism" and announced plans to further strengthen gun laws in the country.

People also took to social media to share their thoughts on strict gun laws in Australia amid the horror attack. One specific post on Threads, a microblogging platform by Meta, attracted the attention of tennis veteran Rennae Stubbs. The post claimed that the Australian people were not able to defend themselves due to the limited number of licensed gun owners in the country.

Replying to the post, Rennae Stubbs defended the current gun laws in Australia and shared that the incident would have killed 100 people had it happened in the USA.

"Shut up you f****n prick! If this was in America it would have been a semi automatic that would have killed 100! Piss off with your stupid comments about a great country," Rennae Stubbs wrote.

The federal US gun laws allow licensed dealers to sell firearms to people aged 18 and over. However, the sale is restricted to felons and criminals, and a few state laws require strict background checks.

"Stop the f***in hate! Period" - Rennae Stubbs condemns blaming entire Muslim community after Bondi Beach firing

Two gunmen involved in the Bondi Beach firing were allegedly identified as a father-son duo of Sajid and Naveed Akram. According to the BBC's report, Naveed Akram was linked to the Sydney-based Islamic State (IS) and was carrying two IS flags. After an initial investigation, the New South Wales Police Commissioner, Mal Lanyon, announced that it was a terrorist attack on the Jewish community.

In his Cabinet meeting, the Prime Minister Anthony Albanese also used the term "antisemitism act." However, Rennae Stubbs shared a video on Threads, where an Australian woman was seen shutting down antisemitism claims raised by a Sky News reporter on a live broadcast.

The former World No. 1 in doubles lauded that woman, who said no one is to blame but those two shooters. Stubbs also pointed out that one of the shooters was stopped by a Muslim man, and pleaded with the people to stop blaming an entire community.

"This is truly what Australia is about," Rennae Stubbs wrote. "This woman is Australian, she’s not going to blame an entire community, the hero that stop one of the gunman was also Muslim! Jews are being slaughtered by people that hate them! Muslims are being slaughtered by people who hate them! STOP THE FUCKIN HATE! Period! Especially in Australia! We are better than this! Ffs."
