Rafael Nadal recently weighed in on what Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner need desperately amid their ATP dominance. The Spaniard and the Italian are currently the top two players in the sport.
Alcaraz and Sinner capped their 2025 season by competing at the ATP Finals in Turin. They reached the finals and contested against each other for the trophy of the season-end tournament. The World No. 2 prevailed over the Spaniard, registering a 7-6(4), 7-5 win.
Both players were the talk of the tennis community for the entire season, and recently, Nadal also shared his thoughts about them. In a recent interview with Punto de Break, he revealed what both of them need while dominating the men's tennis arena. Opening up about how no more rivals are left to go against them, he said:
"I think Sinner and Alcaraz need someone to squeeze them. Fonseca? I think he's still young and not in a position to think about it. They need someone to squeeze them a little because they have marked differences with everyone else and in any version they can beat anyone, until they meet the other. Those of us who see it from the outside have the feeling that even if they play badly, they will continue to win and reach all the finals," said Nadal [via puntodebreak].
What major prediction did Rafael Nadal make about Carlos Alcaraz following his US Open win?
Earlier this year, in September, Rafael Nadal attended a charity golf tournament at the La Herrería golf course in San Lorenzo de El Escorial. During this tournament, he sat for a press conference, where he lauded Carlos Alcaraz for his incredible performances. Calling him a 'special player,' he said:
“Yes, he’s having an impressive career. He is a very special player, we’ve known that for years, but time keeps confirming it, and he is making what is already an impressive career even better," said Rafael Nadal.
He added:
“His career seems to be headed toward something unique. Hopefully, he can have a very long career, which is what he also needs to reach certain numbers, and hopefully injuries stay away and everything goes great for him... And well, let’s leave him be. He has six, which is an incredible number at his age, and hopefully he gets as many as he can.”
Carlos Alcaraz and Rafael Nadal recently expressed their feelings about Spain's Davis Cup loss by sharing touching messages on social media. The Italian team nabbed the title of the 2025 Davis Cup.
