Brazilian teen sensation Joao Fonseca has followed in the footsteps of World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz with his bold hair transformation. The 19-year-old promised to debut a shaved head after winning the 2025 Swiss Indoors title and he recently lived up to his word.Fonseca enjoyed a strong run in Basel in October this year. The youngster opened his campaign with wins over Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, Jakub Mensik and Denis Shapovalov. He then disposed of Juame Munar in his semifinals match, before triumphing against Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the finals. After his victory at the ATP 500, Fonseca revealed he'd made a unique promise to his team during his on-court speech, saying,“And we made a promise that if we won one of these tournaments, we are going to shave my head! So yeah, soon I’m not going to be with hair! It’s not easy for me, I’ve loved my hair since I was a boy.”Now, Joao Fonseca has lived up to his word and the teen recently debuted a shaved head. With this haircut, Fonseca has followed in the footsteps of Carlos Alcaraz. The six-time Grand Slam champion has made a name for himself with his bold and sometimes controversial hairstyles. Earlier this year at the US Open, the Spaniard stunned fans with a close shaved buzzcut, a style that was the result of his brother's haircutting misadventures. After winning the hard court Major, Alcaraz promised that he was going to ‘surprise people', telling Onda Radio Murcia,"I'm going to surprise people, he (Alcaraz's barber, Victor Martinez) already knows what I'm going to do.”Soon after this promise, Carlos Alcaraz left fans speechless when he debuted a full platinum blonde look at the Laver Cup.Carlos Alcaraz and Joao Fonseca to face each other at the Miami InvitationalAlcaraz at the 2025 MLS Cup Eastern Conference Final (Image Source: Getty)Over the course of their careers, Carlos Alcaraz and Joao Fonseca have never competed against each other. I think he has important and beautiful things ahead of him.”At the Miami Invitational, Carlos Alcaraz and Joao Fonseca will be joined by WTA stars Amanda Anisimova and Jessica Pegula.
