"I'll just sit back in Maldives having my tequila" - Aryna Sabalenka's candid admission after WTA Finals 2025 disappointment

During the press conference she attended following her loss to Elena Rybakina in the final of the WTA Finals, Aryna Sabalenka briefly touched on how she would use her Maldives vacation to reflect on her 2025 tennis season. The Belarusian claimed that she would sip on tequila and introspect, saying:
"The good thing is that I'm always there (at the deep stages of tournaments). The bad thing this season, I lost most of the biggest finals I made. So, I guess I'll just sit back in Maldives having my probably tequila, and think back and try to analyze my maybe behavior, my emotions and think that actually it's been pretty good so far. I just need to get little bit better with myself a little bit more, and hopefully next season I'll improve."
In 2025, Sabalenka notably lost the final of the Australian Open to Madison Keys. The Belarusian had won the Melbourne Major in both 2023 and 2024. She also suffered a defeat at the hands of Coco Gauff in the French Open final. The World No. 1 had to settle for second-best in the Indian Wells and Stuttgart finals as well.
