American WTA star Danielle Collins has made a candid admission about the qualities she seeks in her partner. She is currently single after her romantic relationship with Bryan Kipp ended this year.
The former World No. 7 in women's singles tennis recently appeared on an episode of the Nothing Major podcast. Here, the podcast's co-hosts John Isner, Sam Querrey and Steve Johnson asked the 31-year-old about her criteria for a romantic partner.
Danielle Collins subsequently provided an elaborate answer as she laid bare her "picky" nature despite some of her friends urging her not to be as selective. According to the four-time career singles titlist, her partner should be able to enhance her life.
"I'm looking for something very specific. So, some of my friends are like, 'you've got to be a little less picky', but I'm like, 'I want somebody who makes my life better.' I have a great life, so the only way this will work is that having that person has to enhance my life. If that's not the case, then I don't really need it," Collins said. (from 27:08)
The 2022 Australian Open finalist went on to opine that she would like a partner who is religious and spiritual, hard-working and ambitious, and someone whose sense of identity will not revolve around her identity because of her independent nature. Collins added:
"It has to be someone who's devoted to their faith, for sure, and spiritual. That's a total non-negotiable for me, and someone that's hard-working and ambitious that has their own thing going on, so that they can have their own success and something they're passionate about and focused on so that their world doesn't revolve around me, because I like having my me-time and being independent in my own way."
She concluded:
"So I don't need any 'stage 5 clingers' clinging on to me and what I do and having their identity wrapped up into my world."
Danielle Collins also opened up on dating challenges for successful women

Earlier in the same podcast episode, Danielle Collins claimed that for her and other successful women, the dating options are quite limited compared to those of successful men. According to Collins, men tend to get intimidated when they have successful women as their partners.
"I feel like when you're successful as a guy, the amount of people that flock to you is like infinite. You have a lot more options when you're successful as a guy, but as a woman, when you start to become more successful, it narrows down the dating pool by a lot. And I feel like men can feel intimidated sometimes by successful chicks," she said.
On the tennis front, Danielle Collins' most recent competitive outing came at the US Open, where she suffered a shocking first-round loss. Since then, she has remained active due to a herniated disc and some other health issues stemming from endometriosis.
