However, in a surprising move, Novak Djokovic has opted not to compete in the first week of the new season.Djokovic has instead opted to participate in the Adelaide International. The ATP 250 event will take place from January 12-17. The Serb will compete directly a week before the Australian Open for the first time since 2009. He kicked off his season in Brisbane that year, and followed it up with an appearance in Sydney and then the Australian Open.Following the conclusion of his campaign in Adelaide, Djokovic will have his sights set on capturing a record 25th Major title at the Australian Open. His quest for the same ended in semifinal losses across all four Majors in 2025. He will be the fourth seed at this year's Melbourne Major, putting him on collision course with either Jannik Sinner or Carlos Alcaraz in the semifinals.
