Novak Djokovic is undoubtedly one of the greatest tennis players to have ever graced the sport. Recently, his compatriot Olga Danilovic spoke about the Serb at length and highlighted how his Paris Olympics victory caused a flood of emotions in their home country.
Djokovic went into the Paris Olympics as the top seed, chasing his maiden gold medal at the event. The 38-year-old kicked off his campaign at Roland Garros with a wins over Matthew Ebden, Rafael Nadal and Dominik Koepfer. Recently, in an appearance on the Tennis Insider Club podcast, Olga Danilovic reminisced about Novak Djokovic's Olympic triumph. The WTA star revealed that the moment fel like it moved the whole country to tears, saying,
“These Olympics that he won, I think it was the most emotional day in our whole country. I feel like everyone was crying.”
With his victory in Paris, Djokovic successfully completed the ‘Big Titles’ sweep, having won all four Grand Slam titles, all active Masters Series trophies, the ATP Finals crown and the Olympic gold medal.

In 2023, Novak Djokovic and Olga Danilovic teamed up for a mixed doubles match at the United Cup. Reflecting on the moment, Danilovic admited that she went into the match wanting to play like a ‘superhero’ since she didn't want to disappoint her partner, telling the Tennis Insider Club,
“I'm like, okay, I cannot miss one ball. My goal is to play like a superhero, you know, today. Because I wanted it so much, and I felt like, I don't know, to give him, like, you know, I'm not going to disappoint you.”
She went on to add that playing alongside Djokovic was a ‘bucket list’ moment for her, saying,
“So, that was like a really bucket list moment for me. Okay, you know, when we were walking on the court, and I remember I saw a big screen, and I saw like Serbia, and okay, we play for Serbia, and everything is like more passionate.”
At the United Cup, Novak Djokovic and Olga Danilovic faced off against China’s Zhang Zhizhen and Zheng Quinwen. The duo clinched a 6-4, 1-6, 10/6 victory over their opponents to ensure that Serbia got a winning start to their tournament.
