Djokovic was one of the favorites to win Roland Garros this year, but lost to Jannik Sinner in the last four. The Italian defeated him in a gripping three-set bout, 6-4, 7-5, 7-6(3).

Djokovic then tried to convince his wife, Jelena, and son, Stefan, not to watch the French Open final. Despite his efforts, the family eventually witnessed the five-hour-long battle between Alcaraz and Sinner.

"One of the most epic matches of all time, the finals of Roland-Garros this year was incredible just to watch. When I was at Wimbledon, they asked me whether I watched it, and I said that I didn't want to watch it, because I lost the semifinals against Sinner in Roland-Garros, and I went back home, and when I'm done with the tournament, I just want to switch off. I don't want to see any tennis, at least for a few days," Novak Djokovic said on 'Piers Morgan uncensored' at 14:02

"My son and my wife, particularly, also my daughter to some extent, but particularly my son and my wife, they're big tennis fans, so they love to watch tennis. They love to watch the finals of big tournaments and Grand Slams. So I was somehow trying to drag them out of their house, and I did that," he added

Djokovic reached the semifinals of all four Major events this year. He also qualified for the ATP Finals in Turin, but chose to withdraw due to fitness concerns.

The 38-year-old has won the French Open three times in his career (2016, 2021, and 2023). He defeated Casper Ruud in 2023 to capture his most recent title in Paris.

Novak Djokovic has faced Jannik Sinner twice at the Majors this year. The Serb has struggled to defeat the Italian lately on tour.

The Serb wished to spend some quality time with his family rather than watching the French Open final. He didn't expect the match between Alcaraz and Sinner to go the distance this year.

"I said, let's go have lunch, have a walk. And they didn't want to confront me, but they were like, we really want to watch this match. And I said, okay, you know what, you can watch a set. Let's just go. And I thought that the match would be over by then," Novak Djokovic said

"I kind of planned my time outside for a couple of hours. I thought it was going to be like two and a half hours. And they kept going. They went for five and something hours. So we went back, and we ended up watching for two hours," he added

Djokovic failed to make an impact at the Majors, but still secured a couple of titles in 2025. He won the Geneva Open in May and the Hellenic Championships, most recently in November.
