Andrea Petkovic has new 'dream' about Ben Shelton breaking Alcaraz-Sinner dominance, months after she correctly predicted Iga Swiatek's Wimbledon win

Ben Shelton will break Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner's stranglehold on the four tennis Majors; this is what former WTA star Andrea Petkovic recently claimed to have dreamed. Petkovic's sensational take comes months after she correctly predicted Iga Swiatek's title triumph at the 2025 Wimbledon Championships.

The German wrote on her Substack, Finite Jest, that she spotted a falcon flying above Swiatek's head on two occasions at this year's Bad Homburg Open, where the Pole finished as the runner-up. According to Petkovic, who is a self-proclaimed believer in witchcraft and superstitions, this was a sign that Swiatek would win the women's singles title at SW19.

"During 2 matches in Bad Homburg, a falcon or a hawk or an eagle (I’m clearly not an ornithologist) was circling above Iga Swiatek’s head for minutes at end. Those who have followed me for awhile know that my toxic trait is that I believe in witchcraft and superstitions. I believe that the falcon, let’s say it was a falcon, was a sign that Iga will win Wimbledon," Petkovic wrote.

The German's prediction, despite being rooted in something that many would probably call unscientific, came true, as the Pole triumphed at Wimbledon for the first time in her career.

Recently, speaking on the Becker Petkovic podcast, which she co-hosts with compatriot and tennis legend Boris Becker, Andrea Petkovic laid bare her dream about Ben Shelton snapping Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner's Grand Slam dominance. Petkovic also claimed to have seen Becker leading Shelton to a Major crown at next year's Australian Open as the American's coach in the dream.

"Sorry to interrupt, but I texted you a few weeks ago. I had a dream that Boris Becker would be Shelton’s coach and he would win the next Grand Slam. He’d be the first to break the Alcaraz/Sinner dominance. I wrote to you that if that actually happens, I want a new job as a witch or fortune teller," Petkovic told Becker.

Alcaraz and Sinner have shared the spoils at all the tennis Majors between them since the beginning of the 2024 season. While the Italian won the 2024 and 2025 editions of the Australian Open, the 2024 US Open and the 2025 Wimbledon Championships, the Spaniard won the 2024 and 2025 French Open titles, the 2024 Wimbledon Championships and the 2025 US Open.

Despite Petkovic's big dream about Shelton, the American ATP star himself recently admitted that he's a long way away from being able to compete against the world's best men's tennis players.

Ben Shelton made his debut at the prestigious year-end ATP Finals this year, but it was one to forget, as the American exited the tournament after losing all three of his Round Robin phase outings against Alexander Zverev, Felix Auger-Aliassime and Jannik Sinner.

In the aftermath of his swift exit from Turin, Shelton claimed that the experience was an "eye-opening" one for him. He also said that he needs to improve significantly if he wants to seriously challenge the world's best going forward.

"Certainly eye-opening being able to play against some of the best players in the world, (realising) the things that I need to do better. I'm not the player that I want to be yet. Not close. There's so many things that I need to work on," Shelton said at a press conference at the 2025 ATP Finals.

Ben Shelton finished the 2025 tennis season as the World No. 9 in men's singles, having reached a career-high ranking of No. 5 earlier in the year.
