Tennis legend Martina Navratilova recently reacted to the tragic news coming out of Washington, DC, just before Thanksgiving. On Thursday, two West Virginia National Guard members were shot near the Farragut West station in downtown DC. The incident took place just a few blocks away from White House.Both wounded National Guard soldiers were taken to the hospital. Then, just right before Thanksgiving, Gov. Patrick Morrisey shared that both guards have died."It is with great sorrow that we can confirm both members of the West Virginia National Guard who were shot earlier today in Washington, DC have passed away from their injuries," Morrisey wrote on X. "These brave West Virginians lost their lives in the service of their country. We are in ongoing contact with federal officials as the investigation continues."Our entire state grieves with their families, their loved ones, and the Guard community.
