Martina Navratilova has taken a swipe at Donald Trump following the US President's controversial remarks on the tragic recent shooting of two National Guard soldiers in the vicinity of the White House by an Afghan refugee on Wednesday, November 26. Sarah Beckstrom, one of the soldiers, unfortunately succumbed to her injuries. Andrew Wolfe, the other soldier, is reportedly in critical condition.
In the aftermath of the shooting, Trump, condemning it, pointed his finger in the director of his predecessor, Joe Biden, over his immigrant-friendly approach. Claiming that the Biden administration allowed 20 million illegal immigrants to enter the US, Trump said:
"This attack underscores the greatest national security threat facing our nation. The last administration let in 20 million unknown and unvetted foreigners from all over the world, from places that you don't even want to know about. No country can tolerate such a risk to our very survival."
Former World No. 1 in both women's singles and doubles tennis, Martina Navratilova, took notice of what Donald Trump had to say via an article published by The Economist. Subsequently, the 18-time singles Major champion took to X (formerly Twitter) and opined that the greatest security threat to the US is Trump himself along with Pete Hegseth, the US' Secretary of War.
"Our greatest national security risk is trump himself, with Hegseth right behind him," Navratilova wrote.
Navratilova herself had earlier condemned the incident, calling it "awful".
Martina Navratilova questioned Donald Trump over Venezuela deal that led to "convicted killer" living freely in US

In July 2025, triple homicide convict Dahud Hanid Ortiz, a Venezuelan-American, was released from prison after Donald Trump brokered a prisoner-swap deal between the US and fellow American nations El Salvador and Venezuela.
In the aftermath of Ortiz's release from prison, MSNBC's Rachel Maddow took aim at Trump, wondering how the Venezuelan-American, despite his dark past, had been allowed to live freely in the US.
Martina Navratilova caught wind of Maddow's criticism of Trump and subsequently echoed the American TV show host's sentiments, writing on X:
"And trump let this convicted killer free…"
Navratilova, a vocal critic of Trump, has repeatedly called out the US President's views on immigrants. The Czech-American tennis legend has gone on record to say that she most likely wouldn't have fled Czechoslovakia for the US in the 1970s had someone like Trump been the country's President back then.
