"We have to give her a shoutout" - Jessica Pegula jokes about Jelena Ostapenko selling 'random' items to fans online

Jelena Ostapenko's unexpected turn as a salesperson has caught the attention of Jessica Pegula. In a conversation with fellow American tennis stars Madison Keys, Jennifer Brady, and Desirae Krawczyk, Pegula explained how she felt about the Latvian's surprising move.

Ostapenko recently made waves in the tennis world when fans noticed that she had begun listing various items for sale on Instagram. Many were baffled to see the 28-year-old selling off a Dyson vacuum cleaner, perfume samples, Gucci sneakers and storage boxes, especially since she had earned over $2 million in prize money in 2025.

Jessica Pegula shared her thoughts on Jelena Ostapenko's unexpected side venture on 'The Player's Box Podcast,' disclosing how surprised she was to notice fans snapping up the Latvian's "random" items.

"We have to give a shoutout to Jelena Ostapenko. Talking about utilizing the most of your career, she is selling things on Instagram. We have to give her a plug. So, anyways, we had in here as Jelena's Marketplace, which is really funny. She's selling stuff. Her Instagram handle is @j.o.clothes1997. And I came across this because tennis Twitter people start posting pictures of stuff that they've bought from Jelena Ostapenko," Jessica Pegula said.

"I was like what what are you talking about? You bought things from Ostapenko and it's like random kind of stuff. So she sold a Dyson vacuum cleaner. She sold some perfumes. I think I saw she also sold like clothes, bathing suits, like it doesn't matter. That's everything you could ever wish for," she added.

Although the World No. 6 said she was "flabbergasted" by Ostapenko's actions, she asserted that she respected the 28-year-old's hustle and effort to make more money.

"I'm like flabbergasted by the fact that she does this, but we also, I think, respect it because girl's just trying to like get her bag and make her money. A little cash here and there, you know? Why not? It's kind of awesome," she said.

Amid the scrutiny over her online venture, Jelena Ostapenko has also been indulging herself, recently splashing out on a luxury Porsche 911 Targa 4 GTS, which is worth $197,000.

During the same podcast, Jessica Pegula went on to say that she was eager to see what else Jelena Ostapenko would put up for sale on Instagram. Meanwhile, Jennifer Brady joked that the recent listings were how the Latvian had paid for her trip to the Maldives.

"Honestly, kudos to you. We kind of absolutely love it and you just keep selling your stuff. I mean, can't wait to see what's on there next. The Dyson vacuum cleaner is like a legit purchase," Jessica Pegula said.
"Maybe that's what paid for the Maldives vacation," Brady chimed in.

Ostapenko recently treated fans to a glimpse of her off-season retreat, sharing pictures of herself basking in the sun in a red bikini while enjoying the scenic views at the beach. Pegula also escaped to the seaside to unwind, choosing to travel to the Bahamas with her husband, Taylor Gahagen.
