Fonseca was part of the winning Team World this year at the Laver Cup, along with the likes of Taylor Fritz and Alex de Minaur. The Brazilian teenager was making his debut at the tournament this year, and played one singles tie during the three-day event. He beat Flavio Cobolli on Day 1, sealing the World team's lone point of the day. Eventually they won 15-9 to lift their third title.

Speaking in a recent interview with ESPN, Fonseca was all praise for captain Agassi and vice captain Rafter. The Brazilian admitted that he has built a good relationship with both, and felt he has learned a lot from participating at the tournament this year.

"Andre Agassi was super cool. And Patrick Rafter too. I actually got a bit closer to Rafter than Agassi. During the matches, Agassi was busy talking to the players playing. I had a really good relationship with both of them. Just having a relationship with these guys and listening to their experiences was cool. Honestly it was a really great experience for me, and I learned a lot," Fonseca said.

Fonseca also spoke about how his relationship with one of his Laver Cup teammates, Taylor Fritz, has changed since then. The World No. 24 revealed that Fritz had never been that much friendly with him before, which changed after their time together.

Fonseca also revealed that Fritz took the time to congratulate him on his ATP 500 title at the Swiss Indoors this year, the biggest of his career so far.

“I didn’t know Fritz very well, but we became very good friends. Fritz was someone who, when I passed him in the locker room or elsewhere, wouldn’t even say hello. He was much more shy, he wouldn’t talk to me, but now, after the Laver Cup, we chat on WhatsApp," Fonseca said.

"He congratulated me after [the win in] Basel, so we chat from time to time, which was quite unexpected for me, because we had never really spoken before, and we ended up becoming very good friends. I had an excellent relationship with all the members of the team," he added.

The 2025 Laver Cup was held in San Francisco. Next year, it is set to take place in London at the O2 Arena.
