Murry, a former rival of the Serb, joined Djokovic's team as a strategist/coach for the 2025 Australian Open. During the tournament, the former Brit passed feedback to Djokovic, which intrigued several in the tennis world.

On Tuesday, Pegula revealed what she overheard, as she was caught by surprise at the kind of conversations the two tennis legends were having.

"I think he was so interested," Pegula said (32:31). "He was just like, This is so strange… I'm so curious, why do you want me to coach you? But also, I'm so interested in knowing how your brain works and how you're thinking out there. And I mean, I definitely saw them, I remember, I don’t know, I guess Australia was the first event, and Novak was on the bike, and he's just there talking about his court positioning and what he should do.

"And I'm sitting there going, What could they possibly be talking about? Novak does everything well. What do you mean you're…? I was like, What are they talking about? Like, they’re so good, how? How is this really making a difference? But it was interesting to see them interacting like that."

In that tournament, Djokovic reached the semifinal. However, he took a walkover against Alexander Zverev at the Rod Laver Arena. Notably, he defeated current World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz in the quarterfinal.

Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray reveals feelings regarding the new dynamic between the two

For the better part of the last decade, Novak Djokovic and Andy Murray went toe-to-toe in several major tournaments. Their relationship entered a new dynamic after the Serb asked for his consultation earlier this season at the Australian Open.

In his first round match at Melbourne Park against Nishesh Basavareddy, Murray was sitting in Djokovic's "coaching box" and served the Serb with continuous feedback.

“I am thrilled to have him in my corner,” Djokovic said in the post-match conference. “I must say it was a bit of a strange experience to have him courtside in my box. We played for over 20 years against each other at the highest level. Great to have him on the same side of the net. He gave me some great advice mid match. He’s been doing really well. It’s been an enjoyable experience. Hopefully we don’t stop here.”

Murray also liked the job of helping Djokovic do well on the court. The Serb is searching for his first Grand Slam since two years, as another year went by without another addition to his record-breaking total of 24 major titles.
