Iga Swiatek has shared an adorable reaction to Andy Roddick's praise of her 2025 season. The former American tennis star praised the WTA World No. 2's impressive performance at Wimbledon after surprisingly struggling on clay.
After failing to reach her maiden Australian Open final, Iga Swiatek returned to clay, her favorite surface, in the hope of regaining the No. 1 rank. However, to everyone's surprise, the Pole had a terrible clay season in 2025. She failed to defend her titles in Rome and Madrid, suffering early exits, and was later eliminated in the semifinals of the French Open, where she was a three-time defending champion.
The 24-year-old's unforeseen clay campaign left her stumbling to No. 7 in the rankings. However, the four-time Roland Garros winner made a strong comeback in the grass-court season, reaching the Bad Homburg Open final and winning her maiden Wimbledon title. She dominated the most prestigious event by losing just one set in seven matches, and registered a record-laden double-bagel against Amanda Anisimova in the final.
Swiatek's performance at Wimbledon paved her way back to the World No. 2 rankings, which she defended despite an early exit in the WTA Finals. Her brilliance on grass after clay struggles drew the attention of three-time Wimbledon runner-up Andy Roddick.
Speaking on his "Served with Andy Roddick" podcast on December 16, the former World No. 1 praised Swiatek's improvement on the surface she had struggled on in the past.
"Not coming through on clay and then somehow finding a way to be dominant on your worst surface - that's the stuff that legends are made of," Roddick said.
Reacting to Roddick's praise on the Served with Andy Roddick's Instagram post, Iga Swiatek wrote:

Iga Swiatek targets "dream" milestone at 2026 Australian Open
Iga Swiatek, the two-time Australian Open finalist, moved one step closer to her dream achievement after winning the 2025 Wimbledon. The Pole is now just one Australian Open title away from completing a Career Grand Slam.
Before her maiden Wimbledon title in 2025, the former World No. 1 had clinched four French Open (2020, 2022, 2023, 2024) and one US Open (2022) title. At the 2026 Australian Open, starting on January 17, Swiatek has a chance to become the first career Grand Slam winner since Maria Sharapova in 2012.
Speaking in an interview with CLAY on December 17, Iga Swiatek said that she was not thinking of the Career Grand Slam as a goal at the first major of the next season, but admitted that it would be "a dream come true."
“I don’t set goals like that," Swiatek said. "Obviously, it’s something that I dream of and something that I want to happen one day, but I’m not going to come to Melbourne and think about it every day."
“I know that there’s seven matches to win and the Grand Slams are two weeks, a lot can happen. So I’m really going to just take it step by step. Just focusing on the pre-season well is the key, and then I’ll see. But for sure, it would be a dream come true,” she added.
Meanwhile, Iga Swiatek will lead Poland at the United Cup, the first WTA event of the 2026 season, starting on January 2 in Australia. She won four straight matches before losing to Coco Gauff in the final of the 2025 United Cup in Sydney.
