Iga Swiatek has recently shared her thoughts on a double-bagel win against Amanda Anisimova in the 2025 Wimbledon final. The pole revealed that she didn't want to give free points and has no regret over her record-laden win in the final of the most prestigious tennis tournament.

After struggling for form and losing her spot in the top-five rankings in the first half of the 2025 season, Iga Swiatek made a strong comeback in the grass season. She dropped just one set before delivering a dominant 6-2, 6-0 performance against Belinda Bencic in the semifinal, and reached her first Wimbledon final in July.

Anisimova, seeded 13th and playing her first major final, had stunned the World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal to raise the fans' expectations. However, Swiatek dominated her American opponent from the very first game, finishing the summit clash 6-0, 6-0 in just 57 minutes. Iga Swiatek's commanding win surprised many, with a section of fans claiming the final as the worst in Wimbledon's history.

Speaking in an interview with The Guardian on November 28, Iga Swiatek said she has no regrets about not letting Amanda Anisimova win a single game in the Wimbledon final.

“I wasn’t really thinking about how it looks, I was just playing, and I didn’t want to give any points for free,” Iga Swiatek said. “It’s a Wimbledon final, I wanted to win it really bad. After, for sure, there were a lot of crazy things happening. I remember all these interviews about the score, journalists asking questions if I should let Amanda win one game or something like that. It was pretty different."

“I can only say that this tournament shows tennis is [such a] mental sport. This part of the game has a huge impact on everything and on the results of each player. I’m really happy I handled the pressure well, because after the final, everybody was talking about Amanda being stressed or something, but I was also stressed as hell; playing the final of Wimbledon on Centre Court is a surreal experience,” she added.

After recording the first double-bagel in the Wimbledon final since 1911, Iga Swiatek also ended her 13-month title drought on the WTA tour.

"I was a little bit in shock" - Amanda Anisimova on her Wimbledon final loss to Iga Swiatek

Iga Swiatek's heroics in the 2025 Wimbledon final surprised many, including Amanda Anisimova herself. After a hard-fought win over Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinal at the All England Club, Anisimova was expected to put up a fight against the four-time French Open champion.

However, Swiatek's relentless performance left the American in shock, who admitted it later in the post-match interview.

"It's not how I would have wanted my first Grand Slam final to go," Anisimova said. "I think I was a little bit in shock after, as well. But I told myself, I'll definitely come out stronger after this. I mean, that's not an easy thing to go through, losing 0-0 in a Grand Slam final."

However, Anisimova made a strong comeback from her Wimbledon final loss, reaching the US Open final for the first time, winning the WTA 1000 event in Beijing, and finishing the 2025 season as the World No. 4. She also avenged her Wimbledon final loss by beating Swiatek in the US Open quarterfinals and the WTA Finals group-stage match in Riyadh.
